Tantrums

posted 31st Jan
I'm a first time mom to a baby girl. She is 17 Weeks and she throws tantrums if no one is paying attention to her. There are no years just screaming and arching her back and whining. Any tips that I could try besides talking to her and holding her all day I'm having a hard time getting cooking and cleaning done.

Get a baby wrap or carrier.   You can get stuff done and still have her close by for her comfort.

This! A four month old does not throw tantrums.

Sounds normal. Babies want attention. Is she holding onto and grabbing things? I put my baby in her bouncy seat n hand her a toy every few minutes. Sometimes she gets mad anyways but sometimes she will sit there. If I'm cleaning the kitchen I bring her in there with me in her bouncer so she can see me. Then I can usually get things done better.

She said "baby girl" so I think she really meant 17 weeks... umm... that's what babies do OP. Nothing you can do at this point. She's too young for you to expect anything different.

Judging from previous posts, I guess you mean 4 months old, lol.
Really, they don't throw tantrums at that age. She's still very young and has an instinctual need to be close to you. She was tucked away in your womb for 9 months, you are her source of comfort. I highly recommend getting a sling, wrap or carrier so that she can cuddle up against you while you can still get things done.

A 16 week old can not throw temper tantrums. They have no clue how to even do that. If they are crying/screaming they need something. Sorry to break it to ya. If they want your attention it is because they thrive off of that and NEED it.

Tantrums stem from their independent explorations being diverted.. 4 month olds aren't independent or struggling with a desire for independence.

my son will be 5 months old and he throws tantrums. I will put him down on the lfoor cause hes been rolling like crazy and trying to crawl and he gets so fustrated cause he cant do it yet and starts kicking the floor like crazy and yelling. i think its kind of funny i go and pick him up of course but i still think its funny. Anyway sometimes i have to put him in his crib for a few mins just to be able to cook dinner for my toddler. Hes way to heavy to carry in a carriers and he hates them anyway. I try to get my cleaning done when hes sleeping or happy in his excersaucer.

Unfortunately she has to just grow out of it. When she's more mobile and alert it may get easier. DS was difficult at that age too because all he wanted to do was be held and he refused sleep all the time.
