None is worse than another based on it's motivations - that is the point people have been trying to make. Whether you say it is in the name of religion or oil makes NO difference - dead & massacred is the same to the people who suffer it regardless of "why" it is done. You also are terribly naive & short sighted. I have an AUNT who is STILL alive, as in I could give her a call, who was IN a concentration camp in Germany & not as an infant - like at 17 yrs old. I bet she'd beg to differ with you as to "how long ago" that actually was & whether or not it is relevant today. How old are you? You act like everything that happened "before your time" is ancient history. I am just not accustomed to hearing such strange framing of timelines out of adults...seriously. My 5 yr old thinks last year is anceint history, my 12 yr old niece thinks I went to high school ages ago, my teen nephew thinks that Apartheid was the way it "used to be" as of this stuff is not longer applicable to current cultural climates.

Well, I wasnt talkig about the Taliban. But yes I definetly think it's more humane than torturing someone to death, which if you read what i wrote, that's what I said.

Also, how come you like to ignore my posts? About all the relevent and current murders Christians are committing? Is it too hard of a truth for you to address?

If you think last year was ancient history, then you do think like him. I never said that - I also gave other examples. You are the one that threw yourself into that level of category. If you think things like Rwanda, Darfur, & Smurfia, aren't "current" enough then my default, Bosnia is ancient history and geez - the holocaust was before written time almost.

I am not sure you understand the difference between what we can settle & what we can't fix from the outside. Our wonderful idea of vaccinating Smurfians against resulted in the worst outbreak of polio in modern history in 2009. Our idea of studying circing adult men now has serious implications because 74% of the men circed are self reporting not using protection since they do not believe they need it & in some areas there is a serious problem with adult men being circed against their will with some false idea that it will prevent the spread of HIV. It seems MANY times when we think we are helping, we aren't actually helping anything, and this is PEACEFUL stuff we are talking about here. I don't have any confidence that if we did step in, that we actually would make it better. We don't seem to actually have a real grip on how to do that too well. To get an idea of what I mean you should watch "No End in Sight" to see exactly how well planned our invasion of Iraq was & what we did & what we let happen there as well.

The posters on the first couple of pages on this thread DID just chalk it up to, "tit for tat" and I thought that was a fairly poor reason to not step in.

Everyone on earth could hide under a religious guise, I suppose, when the reality is that it's political. The lines have been (intentionally?) blurred, it would seem.

Okay, so in Darfur, it's Muslims killing Muslims....

And in Rwanda, it's the government against its people...

...and you're right, the Bosnia ordeal was definitely initiated (from what that one article said) by the Serbs...BUT...there was intervention (too late, IMO) and there were arrests and these people are being prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

Only the last example was of a religious nature. No matter, an intervention happened.

So why, when I suggest that we intervene in matters such as these, am I told, "No", "bad idea", "we'd screw it up (in a nutshell)"?
