Thanks for actually researching. I couldn't say for sure it was fake but by the hatred spewing out I was pretty sure it was.

I think Americans get confused between religious issues & religious issues that are blended into political parties....I am not sure WHY it is confusing though since i can't fathom a day anytime soon when we'd be willing to elect anyone president who isn't Christian, yet we get all cranky & nervous when other people blend religion & politics. We certainly wouldn't want people saying it was "Christians" who did many of the things our government has done, particularly some of our CIA actions...yet, as a who, we really hold on to our "One Nation Under God" such & such & where is the president on Sundays???

And BTW - I am American, raised Christian & have had very very little contact with Muslims...but enough to know they aren't any scarier than any other group. In fact I went to Catholic school my whole upbringing & never once knew anyone who bombed an abortion clinic OR shot a Doctor - just sayin'.

I live in a city where we have a very popular Baptist Bible college. I hate when school is in session. Some of them are super nice, some of them are super weird, and then there are some of them that accost you anytime they get the impression you're not living for God and Jesus.

I've actually not had any issues with Catholics. My husband's family is Catholic and anyone else who I've met claiming Catholicism has been awesome.

Good - I just have known some scary nuns - like the kind who would make a 6 year old eat a sandwich our of a garbage can while sobbing...literally. Not exactly the kind of thing that makes you think of God's love & kindness.

And I literally did mean "good". On average the Catholics I know are nice too - I can't say there aren't any hardass extremists in there & even 1 or 2 I could actually see bombing a clinic...maybe.

I've had a few issues with non-denominational but that was an ex friend of mine who wouldn't let my atheist daughter play with her religious son because my daughter might convert him to atheism.   She was fine while non-denominational but switched to Baptist so maybe that has something to do with it.

Evangelicals give me the most problems. I'm a quiet atheist. I'll tell you I am if you ask and I have a bumper sticker on my car that eludes to it but I'm not running around telling people God isn't real and that they're idiots to believe in religion etc. I'd like be afforded the same respect but alas...I get pamphlets telling me of God's love, Jesus' sacrifice, and abortion is bad.   And let's not forget the insults hurled, the condescending talk, and threats/assumptions about my parenting ability.

You, on the other hand, are just trying to drag souls to hell...so, it's only natural.

My parents are afraid of athiests too. That is why I never have mentioned Dh is one. ;) I guess I am technically agnostic & practice Buddhism.

It was for the article writer. It isn't for me, though, no.

I asked way earlier in the thread, if it would make a difference if it was whites killing blacks.

My issue with the commentators on this thread was that, BECAUSE this was religious in nature and many people kinda saw it as tit for tat, not a whole lot of sympathy for the victims was verbalized.

These are people killing people (I can list many articles that show mass murders/murders happen all of the time) .

Even if this is faked, that doesn't negate the fact that this sort of thing still happens.

I obviously saw something different in the article, which is why by base question was asked, "should the United States get involved in this?"

Again, if this was a group of ...say...Hindu's and Sikhs slaughtered them, should we, as a country, be willing to intervene?

What if it were a group of gays that were rounded up and killed ...by...whomever. You can imagine anyplace in the world. When, if ever, would it be appropriate to step in?

Hitler's Secret Conversations, one of the few books that I actually own, about the man, says this:

The United States foreign policy stinks. I know this. I believe our government to be corrupt and self serving. However, there have been many times in history where we were a force for good. Other nations regularly called on us to help them fight wars or to just simply show our support, in all kinds of situations. The American people used to support America, as a "calvary", so to speak.

Are you saying that we should never interfere, under any circumstance?

If you think Nazi's did not consider themselves Christians I am not sure what you are getting that from. Even if later he decided religion was in the way, that was long after he already decided to decimate the Jews & everyone else he determined to be undesirable.

Based on our past performances, I'd say it's a safer bet ATM.

Could you tell me exactly when we intervened "just because"?
Would that be when we "liberated" the Jews AFTER we got attacked at Pearl Harbor? Or maybe WWI after the Lusitania was sunk (after warning by the Germans they would, in fact, sink that boat if it sailed)?

Just wondering what humanitarian war efforts you feel we've been involved in.
