Paint Placement on Walls.

posted 31st Jan
My kids room is small.

One wall has a decent size square window. The wall mirrored it is the closet and door to enter. Not a whole lot of wall that would be painted.

And then the other two walls are plain. Along one wall this toddler bed
the other wall this bunk

Here are the paint colors I'm trying to decide between.

I would do the walls in the bottom color and do white trim. We're working on our little girl's room now trying to get it done early and we did a bright green. Same shade family as the bottom color of your selection just green and it is beautiful with the white. I'm a fan of bright colors though, not too big into the pastel-ish colors like the top two of your selection. The bottom one would also look really good with the color of the furniture you have, if it's the same color the furniture in the pictures. =]

It is the same color furniture.
And the house is brand new last year with a honey wood trim. Def. not painting it white.
It sounds like your DD room will be beautiful.

That color would look great with any trim, I just prefer white trim, lol! Our baby room was painted pink previously, like a sickly pink it was terrible. They even painted the trim and door the same color. It's been so nice to see a bright vibrant color in there. I find the bright vibrant colors just make things more lively and happy looking, (if that makes sense). And thank you! I love how her room is coming together.

I like bright colors too. That's why I chose those shades   They are more green than blue. But I'm not looking for bright - bright.
Right now this is the color. It was the play room but I switched the two. This was their bedroom. I'm not afraid of color lol but I want something more calming and cherry for their sleeping space.

For calming I would do the middle color. Maybe the bottom color behind their beds and then the middle color on the rest of the walls. That would still be calming but vibrant.

That's what I was leaning toward. The head of the beds would be at the window. A nice pop of color when you first walk in.

Now that I'm thinking about it.. would it be too much to paint the ceiling the lightest shade? Or do you think I should leave it white? We are going to have to paint it anyway because I'm taking the swing down.

I would leave it white, sorry it took so long to reply. The people that lived in our house before we bought painted some of our ceilings baby blue and some of them baby pink. I think it's a little over whelming. But, I prefer white ceilings and trim no matter my decor lol! I love painting my house bright colors, I just like the break ups that white or wood trim gives. =]

Why all the paint? lol your description makes me think who in their right mind would paint the walls, doors and trim all the same? It screams work for ugly lol

I love the look of white. It's so fresh and clean. I'm going to do a little painting every season until the house is the way I like it. We moved in after the builder painted everything and picked out all the intior stuff. Otherwise colors would have been drastically different.

I have no idea why they painted it the way they did. The only rooms in our house that wasn't baby blue or baby pink when we moved in was the kitchen and living room. The living room was this dirty beige color (trim and all) and we painted it the same color orange as our Charger, Go Mango. They had to custom mix the paint but it turned out amazing! And our kitchen was originally this ugly mix of baby blue and baby green, that was painted sunshine yellow! I hope your house is easier to paint than mine is! You wouldn't think those colors would be a pain to paint over, but they really are!
