1"? Noo....lol. It can touch the seat as long as you can fit a sheet of paper between the car seat and vehicle seat.
The Recaro harnessed seat is actually really nice. So is the Britax Frontier 85.

I was told that was dangerous in a crash because things flex and shift and if the carseat touches the front seat there is no space allowance for that and it's like slamming baby into a wall.

I have gotten some great info, thanks ladies and its good to see I'm not the only one rear facing to an older age. Some parents are so quick to get them front facing!
