Settings for indoor lighting?

Ive been trying to get a handle on good settings for indoor low light.... I'm not happy with what I get, any advice? I don't want to raise the ISO too high because I don't want alot of noise.

are you using your camera's meter?

No I'm not, Ive been looking into Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO I haven't gotten to the meter yet.
