Apnea Monitor

Are there any other parents on BG with babies that have an apnea monitor? DD's monitor went off tonight because she stopped breathing, it really terrified me. It scares me that if I didn't have the apnea monitor I never would've known she stopped breathing, she looked like she was just sleeping, I thought she just fell asleep while I was burping her but she actually stopped breathing. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost her she is my whole world. I was able to stimulate her back to breathing, woke her up and she started crying but it took a few seconds to wake her up. Worst feeling in the world. I took her to the E.R. and her oxygen levels and everything was okay so we got sent back home.
Just wish there were some other mamas to talk to who can relate.

I have an apnea monitor as well mama - the oricom babysense, its only ever gone off falsely though (through my own wrong doing) because i propped LOs mattress up for reflux and it messed with the sensor during the night at one point.. my heart dropped!

I literally threw my new laptop on the lounge room floor ran into LO's room & grabbed him.. once i knew he was breathing i cried uncontrollably.

I didn't realise how much i loved him until i thought i'd lost him.

I can just imagine how scary that would have been for you!

Cudos to you for having a monitor though! It'd be a good idea for you to learn infant CPR incase of a SIDS episode or sleep apnea episode in the future.

Mine was ordered by a doctor and is from children's hospital I didn't know you could just go out and get one.

DD was on an apnea monitor for 4mos. It is very scary.

Are you trained in infant CPR?

Yeah you can buy them  

$350-$400 each though.

Its a medical grade one used in hospitals, might be the same brand as yours.

Yes I've taken CPR classes several times, I used to work at a daycare. I just really hope I never have to do CPR on her.
