Question about diaper's

posted 31st Jan
Sorry this is a dumb question but how do you know when to move your little one up in diapers? I've noticed my son's diapers are starting to become tighter & aren't coming up above his belly button as much. Should i go ahead at start him on size 2?
i feel stupid but he has always been in size 1 diapers since he was a NB.

You can tell by weight... if your LO weighs enough to be in the size 2 range... might as well bump up... and if they leak too much to start or don't seem to fit right at first you know you're going to bump up soon anyways so it's not wasted money... DS was only 2 months when we had to bump him to size 2s cuz his 1s were constantly leaking from all sides... so it became VERY apparent that he needed a size up (and it definitely wasn't just a brand thing cuz we had a lot of different brands from diaper cakes and my showers)

Yeah time to move up... always a bit sad when they outgrow diapers (especially when you have lots left over) but I think it's even sadder when they outgrow clothes... cuz they'll never wear that specific outfit again

Size two starts at 12lbs. But if your baby is tall they can stay in smaller sizes longer and shorter means bump up quicker. Like my son was tall so he wore preemie when he was born even though he was over due and weighed 7#8oz. So I would wait until a couple pounds after what the diapers suggest before going to that size.

I always switched at the lowest weight on the next size. It seemed like he got to 3s fast, he was born into 1s, but he's been in 3s FOREVER!!! He's going to be moving into 4s very soon

That's good! yea I still have around 80 size 1 diapers left over... and he hasn't been in them for a month... however my friends' daughter still fits in them even tho she is 2 1/2 month older than him is so she uses them when she comes over... and I am throwing my friend a baby shower in March and I'll use the rest for a diaper cake for her I guess...

Well he is tall but his crack is starting to poke out and the straps of the diaper feel tighter on him and they just look small lol...

16 months   he's seriously been in 3s since he was 6 months! I'm going to try to wait until his 18 month wellness checkup before switching him. Doing it where you switch him at the lowest weight on the next size actually makes it easier to not have left overs! I haven't had any left over diapers because I can finish the smaller size first.

that is a really smart idea... I think I'm going to do that... I was going to get more size 2s at the end of the week (since I'll be out of the brand I like best by then) but I think I'll get 3s since he is 16lbs now! I have a GIANT 3 month old... lol he's bigger than my friends' 5 1/2 month old... and the same size as her friend's (and my acquaintance) son who's 7 months tomorrow...

I switched him every time he had a wellness checkup that said he weighed enough to be in the next size lol I'm glad I did it that way tho!   DS was 9 1/2 lbs when he was born so he should've been in 3s sooner, but he didn't gain any weight his whole first month due to bad advice about BFing I got from friends on FB...I'm just glad he didn't loose either! He's a tall boy tho!
