First night. Very nervous.

For those of you not familiar with me, I have a 5 month old Son with severe GERD. He's been sleeping in his bouncy seat (placed in his crib, so he gets used to the atmosphere of his room) since he was about 3 months old, and in our room before that. He was fine with sleeping that way up until a week or so ago, now he's decided he doesn't like being in the seat...he'll strain like he's trying to sit up and basically just refuses to sleep. Who can blame him really? I can't imagine it's a very comfortable position. So tonight, after a while of fussing and crying, I went in his room and took the seat out of his crib, rocked him for a while and he passed out. I put him down on the crib mattress and he stretched out and continued to sleep.
I knew I'd have to do it eventually, it just really freaks me out. I really believe he would know enough to turn his head if he started to throw up, but there have been times it's taken him a little to get it out, and he chokes a bit. He's an OK roller, not great but he does like to lay on his side (I put him down on his back, but he turns on his side often.) I have elevated his mattress a bit, but he's such a squirmer, he ends up down the other end of the bed with his feet on the elevated part, which clearly does no good.
All I know, is he's quiet and seems to be resting peacefully for the first time in a while, and I just don't think it's fair to keep him restricted to the infant chair any longer.

I don't believe I'll get any sleep tonight.

You're not being rude, it's ok to ask...I know it's a very strange name lol It's Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Basically, it's spit up times a million. He has to have special formula with rice starch, he takes two different kinds of reflux medications and up until just recently he wasn't allowed to go to sleep on his back to prevent him from asphyxiating. He's actually been hospitalized at Children's Hospital for dehydration because of it.

Well, he ended up back in the infant seat last night. He started screaming again and I figured it wasn't the seat making him cry. I've moved his pack n play back into my bedroom, and I'm going to try him in there at night for a while, out of the seat. I have a monitor, but I feel safer having him near me...and after some time, and I can see that he's ok, I'll transition him back to his crib.
