Eye cold?

posted 30th Jan
My 4 1/2 month old woke up yesterday (1/29) with her left eye all matted up. Over the duration of the day, it started oozing green stuff and then this morning I woke up to both of her eyes matted shut. I've been using warm water to keep it clean but the stuff just keeps coming out. I don't know what to do, my older two never had this problem. Someone suggested putting breast milk in them but I did it once and nothing changed?! She has an appointment but it's not until Friday at noon so I need advice on what to do until then. She did just get over a two week cold but there's no fever, redness in eyes or anything like that. Thanks.

It can't be though, it's contagious right? My husband, two older daughters and myself are always around her/messing with her, we'd have it too, right? She has an appointment Friday but what can I do until then..

I'd keep putting breast milk on it honestly. It's gonna take more than once.

Im not 100% sure, but I dont think all cases of it are contagious, I would say for now keep bathing it with warm water and cotton wool, until friday.. of course unless it gets worse. Sorry im not 100% sure on all of this, but it is exactly what I would do xx I hope she is ok

I assumed it would. I'm still learning all of the "breast milk is good for" list since she is our first ebf baby lol I'll keep trying it and hope it gets better.

I'm just afraid I'll make it hurt. It gets really gunky on her eyelashes that I have to press harder to get it off   Someone mentioned Vaseline as well?

Yea vaseline is good for so many things, I would imagine if use vaseline, it would stop her lashes sticking together to harshly. x

It is not always contagious, sometimes our immune system can beat it.. She's so young in possibly wouldn't be able to combat it.

Sounds like pink eye (conjunctivitis) which is highly contagious. You need antibiotics or ive heard breastmilk works too.

I thought it was contagious. I don't think it's pink eye but I'm calling in the morning to see if they can fit me in tomorrow instead of making us wait until Friday. I'm getting ready to clean them out again so I'll squirt some bm in them
