not enough room for teeth at 5yrs old?

posted 30th Jan
my oldest daughter is 5yrs old, and she has just recently lost her 3rd tooth, they one that is growing in is seeming to grow out the front of her gums vs. up thru the top like it should and all the other teeth do... her front 2 bottom teeth were first to loose and now one next to them is the one causing all the trouble. its now making one of her new "adult" teeth that was growing in loose... i called her dentist and made an appointment, but what will they probably do? anyone else ever known any one at such a young age show crowding in teeth this bad?

I did when I was little. I got 5 teeth pulled when I was around 5 or 6 and then I had to get a palate expander to make my mouth wider, and then braces to straighten my teeth. Then I had to get my 4 wisdom teeth out but that was much later.

dang... thats what i was thinking.. .that they would start with pulling some teeth.. so what did they do just take out some of your baby teeth? or a few other teeth too (adult ones)? what did they do to help you get thru them pulling them and any discomfort afterwards? remember anything about the experience to share?

They took out both baby and adult because if they waited for all the adult teeth they would've grown in weird places lol. It wasn't bad - they gave me laughing gas and the sucky part was sitting with a mouth full of gauze for a couple hours after.

The palate expander was the worst smurf EVER. I hope in the 15 years since I had it they came up with something better. Braces sucked too but braces were pretty common and easy to get used to. It is not an easy road - my advice is to get it sorted ASAP because 1. she won't remember it as much when she gets older and 2. it will be much easier to take care of.
