I hope that if you do do it it's not soon since your son isn't even 2 months yet...

My DD NEVER had rice cereal. She had oatmeal at 6 months, though.

Her Pedi had me give it to her in a bowl with a spoon at 4 months, but she is a chunk and he thought it might help fill her more than my breast milk was, even when I tried (once) to give it to her in a bottle with breast milk she wouldn't drink it... so yeah but it's your child and you can do it how you want... I know lots of moms who do it and even on both sides of my family wanted me to do it, but you can try it if you want just don't add too much and make sure it's mixed very well... good luck to you!

My dd was about 3 months when I did. Doctor suggested it for her since she had reflux. I used oatmeal because she couldn't poop if she had the rice. I wouldn't have done it otherwise.

I started rice cereal in a bowl with formula at around 5 months with DS1. Tried it with my 7 month old and he wants nothing to do with it so we're skipping the crap altogether.

This!

There's a reason that the teat of a bottle has a hole the size of a pin prick. It's not designed to let things bigger than that out.

I had to start my LO on cereal in his bottle at 4 weeks. After being in the hospital for a week and him being labeled failure to thrive they finally listened to ME his mom and changed formula but then he would spit up curdled formula and wouldn't pass a BM so I talked to the pedi she told me to do 2ozs water 1 scoop formula 1 scoop (formula scoop) rice cereal. or 4 ozs water 2 scoop formula 3 scoops cereal (to thin for my LO to keep it at 1 scoop per 2 oz bottle) my 16 week old is finally 12 lbs 8 ozs! We've had 3 lbs weight gain in 3 weeks!!! I'm so proud of my now chunker!

You're depriving him of true nutrients by giving him more cereal than formula.. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
