Curious

I KNOW all kids are different, BUT,

My son refuses to eat hardly anything..
We had spaghetti for dinner and he didn't want anything to do with it but went to the fridge and got applesauce, he eats oatmeal and a piece of fruit for breakfast almost everyday, & on a good day will eat maybe half of lunch..

IF this is a phase when does it stop, he's starting to worry me, he's almost two and a half..

Why would you let him have applesauce if he didnt eat his dinner?

Mine never went through that phase thankfully, they are really good eaters...like ask for salad with dinner good eaters lol. Just don't give him options, if he doesn't want dinner then he doesn't eat...he's not going to starve himself. He's eating applesauce, fruit, and oatmeal because they are sweet would be my guess.

I fought with him for over 30 minutes to take a bite of his spaghetti, he wouldn't, I'd rather he eat something than nothing..

Kids growth rate usually starts to slow down at the age of 2, so their appetites decrease. His little tummy is about the size of his two fists put together, so generally speaking, he won't eat much more than 1 cup of food in one sitting.

He will not let himself starve. Just offer him healthy food when he does eat and don't force him to eat if he doesn't want to.

Well honestly if he knows he can hold out long enough and get something different that he likes he's going to push your limits. If you get in the habit of caving he's just going to play that to get what he wants. Toddlers are smart little things lol. There is nothing to worry about he's just testing you.

My daughter just turned 3 and she's in a no eating kind of phase.

I'm lucky if she eats one meal. It looks like today she ate a cheese quesedilla and strawberries, that's the best she's eaten today.

You're going to have to put your foot down and only let him eat what you're serving him.

my daughter would do this if id let her. she is 2 1/2.
but she eats what we have or nothing at all. its a phase they go through to test their limits and see what they can go through.

lets say we have noodles for dinner she has to eat them or she wont get anything else.
if it were up to her she would eat nothing but yoghurt and cheese and fruit all day.

It can backfire though on you too, it really all depends.

We tried forcing my daughter to eat last night or go to bed. So she went to bed, that's when I realized she wasn't budging either so I gave her an alternative so she would at least eat SOMETHING.

She usually eats a little bit of what we normally eat, but lately she hasn't been wanting ot eat.

yea dont give in.
if DD throws a fit over the food i take away her plate. i try every 30mins to see if she will eat it. if she still hasnt touched it by the time we are done with dinner she can run around and play for a while. then i offer one more time before bed time comes close. if she eats she eats if not she has to go to bed hungry.
95% of the time she eats. if not she eats a bigger meal for breakfast.

also - no distractions! no tv etc at the dinner table! and i found it helps when we all sit together and eat together in case you arent doing this already.
good luck
