Yeah I could understand that if it is a criminal situation.

So what rights do they have where you live? Like I said Father's barely have rights here and Grandparents have absolutely none. I'm always quite surprised seeing on things like Teen Mom and reading on here how much rights the Fathers have so I'm quite interested now to learn even Grandparents do.

Only if child support/custody was being involved.

It's mainly just visitation/access in Texas. They have to go through the court to get them established. It varies from state to state.

If im responsible for my son, because he is a minor, and child support was being asked, I would be able to request dna test. Then custody and visitation. I would have a lawyer on my sons behalf... and yes I can do that because as the presumed father, he has those rights to the child.

Because if I later found out the child was not his, I would not be able to recover any of the money that was given to the mother, because i did not exercise my right to a *DNA TEST****
Just because they can lay down and make a baby dose not automatically emancipate him from me... they are responsible for the baby, I am responsible for him till he is at least 18

This. I offered my ex a paternity est, his parents questioned me. I said "You are fully entitled to one. BUT you are paying for it." I never got mad. He decided not to because he knew he would be wasting money on a test.

Seriously, if they are having a kid they need to make adult decisions. Do they want a paternity test? If not, that's their choice and I will respect that.

I probably wouldn't let my daughter put the guy on the birth certificate though, I dont want her to go through what I did.
