Yellow eye goop?

My 7 month old is having yellow goop coming out of both eyes. His eyes aren't super pink/red besides a TAD blotchy, so I don't THINK it's pink eye. I work at a daycare and my boss/co-workers said they don't think that's what it is either and it's probably nothing. It's been going on since about Saturday night and he had surgery Monday morning and the nurse said it didn't look to concerning. I'm still worried though and feel bad if I let it go and it is something...should I take him in just to be sure??

Babies can have eye viruses, which generally subside in a week or so.
