Oh ok awesome. I qualify for that kind of stuff usually.
Do people go to jail in all the states for not paying child support if they let it build up long enough?

Yes, there is back child support in California. My ex owes about $4000 right now in back support. They will basically hunt him downt till he works. They will almost "make" him work from what I understand. Ya, far cry from my mom was dealing with all this.
Go through child support services though, I personally wouldn't recommend the court. Yes, I suppose you could get a waiver for summons for support but since you are already divorced, don't really know how that goes over here. With CSS its free and they are straight to the facts.....paystubs, numbers, receipts, time spent. Judges can factor in other feelings and it just gets too personal almost. But it may work better for you, especially if he's a no-show and no attourney. And court may be faster, not sure.
Yes, they can absolutely be issued an arrest warrent for not paying.

Yea, except I. His case it's his uncle who covers his deadbeat drug using ass SMH... I'm currently in month 2 (again) of trying to get him arrested. No luck as of yet. He's working under the table since they started garnishing his wages for nonpayment. They ended up taking so much that he quit his job so he didn't have to pay :/ jackass

Anyway, good luck! It's no fun, but life gets better!

I think I will go through CSS once I get the divorce decree.
Do people go to jail here in California for not paying long enough?
He had a string of jobs from ages 17 till 21 (he's 26 now) but nothing since except oh wait, there was that entire 6 weeks he worked at a Subway in 2011. but nothing for years before or since.

I know in California and Maryland yes. My cousin's ex had a warrent out for him. They told my ex here in CA that he could be arrested for nonpayment.

Couldn't happen to a nicer person lol.
He's on and off the streets drunk and stealing smurf. Contribues squat to his daughter or society
in general. Just a waste of skin.
My mom thinks maybe some jail will help him sober up and get his life together. but I doubt it. At one point he was homeless, his mom had a restraining order against him, I left him, a nd he nearly cut off 4 fingers on his right hand. His hand will never be the same again. but still he just can't put the malt liquor down.

They go to jail in all states, but like I said they have to go more than 120 days without payment after the court order. So if he pays say $100 on day 119, you just have to start over calling every 30 days to get them to hunt him down

I think I'll probably go through CSS. Even if it takes a while it's not like he's getting a job anytime soon.
His mommy practically begged me not to file child support. Got very defensive

when I politely asked if there was any way he could contribute a package of diapers every so often since he gives nothing and as long as he's sober gets to see her twice a month at mommy's house. Clames no one will higher him with a wage garnishment on his back. but I find myself caring not.

I completely understand. My ex is the same way. I even offered him an out. I asked him to sign his rights over so he didn't owe child support , didn't face jail time etc and he refused. He doesn't call or see my son, and I'm remarries to an awesome man who desperately wants to adopt him. It's a shame.

Oh lawd enablers SMH.
He'd better make real nice with mommy cuz other wise he's going to jail. He's too messed up to even work under the table, unless returning recycling for bear and pot money counts lol.
Him and his mommy have this awful relationship where she goes from spoiling him wrotten to making him leave and screaming at him that she hates him and wish she never had him. In cycles.
but she is desprate to stay in my daughter's life so realizing he's

just lost his visits legally and will have topay or go to jail is going to make her lose her smurf I think.

You shouldn't care. That's not your issue, its his. Does he care if you are struggling financially? (not saying you are, just being hypothetical) And its really for your daughter. Even if you didn't NEED it, and even if you only got $200 a month, you could still be putting it into a savings for her for college and in 16 years have a little college fund for her.
Plus I don't believe any potential employer would be notified of a wage garnishment until AFTER they were hired. It only comes up after the employer has put their social in then payroll gets the notice. And it doesn't matter to the employer, not like THEY are paying it.

Ah I see. Well dependent on whether or not he can stay on mommy's good side, he may or may not being going to jail soon then.
Is it 120 days in all states? or does the amount of days vary.
Sorry, so many questions lol.
