avent bottles... old vs. new

so i have new avent bottles and today a friend gave me a bunch of hers that she doesnt need anymore. some 4 oz some 8 oz. i noticed the bottles seem more glass like. they are plastic but its a harder plastic then the ones i have. they also dont have the rings for lid part. the blue and white rings? do they make that much of a difference? if you had both or used both did the old ones work as well? they obviously changed it for a reason. im hoping they dont leak like the new ones do if you forget the ring.

We used Avent for Heathen, and they leaked all the time. She's 4 now, so I would assume the new ones are better and don't leak as much

I've already got stars for the minions. He doesn't have any for the wee-uns yet, but he has to be careful where he puts them. So it may be a while before he does

we used Avent and I liked them. bought them in 2010. Ours have a gold tinge and are BPA free, so I would check and see if you can find out if the older ones are BPA free too.

I used the old ones without the rings and they leaked ALL over the place.. so i got the ones with the blue/white rings and mine never leaked.. i was going to get them for this baby but decided to get one of each bottle (mam, similac, tomee tipee) to test them out to see what baby likes best.

what do you guys mean by rings? can you show me a picture? I don't see rings on mine, but they are fairly new IMO (2010) and we don't have leaking issues as long as the nipple is in properly.

i got mine in 2010 as well and all of mine that i bought (around 20) had these rings

hmm. well my bottles don't have those rings and they didn't leak, but we also don't use bottles very often, so maybe we were lucky.
