4 year old-OCD-concerns

posted 30th Jan
This is what i see all day every day, i seriously am concerned about OCD. Would you bring this kind of thing up to a dr if it was happening constantly. Yes i know there's no blinds or curtains, he refuses to have them.

stacking and putting things in lines seems like a normal kid thing to me

They all have to be in a certain way, stacked big little small, just odd things.
It's hard to explain. It's not just this, it's a series of these situations all day 24-7. It doesn't bother me, i'm just wondering if i should bring it up to a dr.

Wow it's stacked so neatly. My kids sure as heck don't do that.

IMO it seems normal. My son is the same way. he lines his cars/trucks/tractors up daily. But there is no reason for you not to bring it up to his doctor. It definitely won't hurt anything. How is the rest of his room/toys? Neat or messy?

Perfect besides talking, which he's getting a lot better at now that he's in school with a speech therapist.

Everything in his life is neat. He has an order for everything. Everything has a place, he doesn't like it changed so we don't rule over that. It upsets him badly if we were to like rearrange so we just don't

when my son was about 2 or 3 he started doing things like that. Colorizing EVERYTHING, would not eat if his food was touching, would not get in bed if his covers weren't a certain way. Refused to take a bath in the tub because feet touch the bottom of the tub. He has outgrown most of it but still will only take a shower. His sister accidentally had a bowel movement in the tub and he scrubbed it down before he would even get in it, he is a germaphobe.
I would definitely mention it to his doctor, but let him know what your concerns are and ask about options. My sons doctor suggested that we just watch for major behavioral changes but it could very well just be a kid thing, some kids do go through these phases.

I would bring it up with the doctor. Sounds like he may have something going on but you never know. If he does best to get on top of it now. If he doesn't then no big deal. Good luck.

It could be normal but if you are worried ask about it. Are there any other things going on behaviorally or anything?

with the way they're stacked like that. I would. Obviously, this isn't the only thing that has you concerned. What else does he do?

You just described my son! Cabinets have to be shut a certain way, i mean just down to the smallest things and i'm terrified it's going to rule his life. He spends every second of everyday worried about organizing and making sure things are right that he's not enjoying being 4.

He is awesome! Well behaved as can be, helps me, just perfect. Unless you mess his stuff up or things aren't "right" then he has melt downs.

Hmm my kid will trash his room, but he lines things up a certain way. But his stuffed animals have a special place on his bed and he has a meltdown when I mess them up to wash his sheets. I would just bring it up to his doctor at your next visit. I wouldn't make a special trip for it though. Just take some pictures of everything and take them with you.
