re: Miscarriage and giving birth to the baby

I'm sorry for your loss. I work in L&D, and wanted to let you know that a lot of docs are not doing d&c's once you are out of the first trimester anymore, there is an increased risk of infection and other problems that can result. Where I work, we treat it as a regular labor and delivery, that is you can get pain control (nubain or an epidural) and it's usually pretty quick. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss

I miscarried at fifteen weeks during my first pregnancy. All they did fore at the ER was offer a percodin prescription and confirm that it was a miscarriage.

It was very painful for me. I remember sitting up in bed all day and night rocking back an forth from the pain before I went to the hospital. I got feverish an was vomiting as well. I remember checking every clot I passed, praying in a feverish delusion that I would not pass the baby. I did pass the baby eventually, but after I was on percodin. There was still pain. Very intense cramping, but the pain pills helped. They also made me feel even more nauseous.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Such a terrible pain to suffer. What helped me was knowing that my baby probably never had a chance and it was most likelye just one of the random defects that account for many miscarriages.

I still wonder though, as do I with my second miscarriage. But I am so blessed in my life with all that I have that I do not wallow in it much.

You're welcome. I would ask your doctor about your pain control options, that way you can prepare and make the best decision for you. I hope it's quick and easy for you!
