Painful stitches

posted 30th Jan
During labor with my son i had to get cut down there because i couldnt push hard enough to tear naturally, and i got 5 stitches. they used the dissolveable ones. It has officially been 6 full days and they still hurt. Last time i gave birth i didnt tear or need to be cut so i dont know if this is normal or if i should go get it checked, any advice would be great!

I only had one stitch from tearing naturally. But just the one bothered me for the whole 6 weeks after birth. It felt very weird at one point I even swore up and down it had to be infected! It wasn't. My mom had an episiotomy with my sister. She said it was pretty bad and she honestly felt really sick for a long time after. If its really bothering you I would go get it checked. Have you tried icing it? That helped me a little

My doctor told me it could take up to 12 days for them to heal but i think they were feeling 100% better around day 9-10. Are you using a bottle to spray water on the area? Also not sure if other doctors do this but mine gave me a tub if witch hazel pads to put on top of my pad and a bottle of spray pain reliever (dermaplast i think?) To spray on the area where the stitches are.

Soaking in a warm bath a few times a day helps. Then use the spray mentioned above.

they didnt tell me anything about how long it would take to heal but they did give me a little spray bottle... and failed to tell me what it was for. Thank you all for the input!

Use warm water in the bottle and each time you use the bathroom, spray the water on the area. Or more often if it feels uncomfortable. The witch hazel helped a little but the dermaplast was really nice.
