Right? That smurf gets annoying! I'm sure if getting a permit was as easy as saying it no one would come here illegally. Like what the smurf do they think? That people come here illegally because it gives them a rush risking their lives to cross to America? Knowing they could get shot or drown in the river? Knowing the coyote they paid may not even cross them over, may even kill them and keep their money?

A lot of people just sound very arrogant. They need to get the silver spoon out their ass and imagine themselves in others people's shoes for a second.

In this economy you can't even afford to misplace 20$ !!!

I do hope that one day the legalization process will become more manageable and affordable, its just all kind of crazy now.

It happened to my grandfather. He ended up paying over $25,000 just to get his citizenship.

Omg, very well said! If it was as easy and affordable as getting a drivers permit THEY ALL WOULD HAVE THEIR PAPERS!!! My DH (who is Mexican) told me that the ladies get on birthcontrol before they come here just because they are pretty sure they will get raped while crossing and most won't even put up a fight because they don't want to end up beaten and/or dead. It is so sad. I really wish people were more informed on this and then they would have a completely better understanding than what they do now instead of just assuming everything is a piece of cake when its very, VERY far from that.

For us Americans we can pretty much go anywhere, we just have to flash our passport (the one you can get without any issues whatsoever) and if we decide to stay in whatever country, its much more easier for us.

Thanks to my grandfather, I never had to go through that. Yet, I imagine how hard it must be. If you watch the news, there was a time where you'd see nothing but news about how multiple people were drowned in the river or died in the dessert. How 20+ people were murdered trying to cross over.

It's all very saddening. I honestly don't know where some of these people get that illegals live a glamorous life when a lot and even most of them, do their best to be good citizens because they know that anything as little as speeding can get them arrested and deported. Immigration a doesn't even let them get their belongings or the money they've earned the time they worked here.

I understand that some DO come here and live on welfare, take advantage of the government etc. yet you can't possible believe a whole group of people are the same just because of the way one you know is.

As a person gone through immigration it bugs me when people do it illegally. I had to go through the headache of all the paper work and thousands of dollars to get it, so should they... But then I think of their situation and how crap it is... I wouldn't want to be in their situation fighting for my life and my families life... So, I'm kinda torn... There needs to be some happy medium...

When I was staying there with my friend, the hot water tank didn't work so we boiled water & took baths from water in a pot lol....this was when I was 17, it is VERY different there.

I agree...I never say smurf about illegals tbh, because I truly understand where they come from. Many people in America have no damn idea how people in Mexico live.

Ok, but did you make 20 dollars a week where you came from? Did you come up from nothing?

Yep, when I went there a year and a half ago for 2 months, on the chilly nights I had to heat up water on the stove for my girls, I can deal with chilly water but for them I had to heat it up. It was a pain in the neck.

True. I have been with DH for 8 1/2 years and I have heard a ton of stories of what its like over there and would tear up when he told me that when he was a kid and his clothes were always ragedy with holes in the jeans so his Mama would cut material and so he had patches   But when I went over there myself and lived for 2 whole months, all I could think was "Damn! they REALLLLLLY do have it bad here" ...When I got home I wanted to make sweet-sweet love to my washing machine, dryer, hot water, air conditioner, I never felt more thankful in my life for what I have. We truly do have it good here...

I will go back maybe this year or next, bc I want my girls to experience it again and I really want them to realize how good they have it and to always appeciate what they have and not to be greedy and wasteful. A LOT more people here would be more understanding and appreciative if they experienced life in another country that doesn't have it good as we do.
