I'm not saying anything about anyone taking our country by force. If people have been taking other people's land this way since beginning of time then you admit that is exactly what we did. Which was my point. Illegal immigration is a problem but we need to overhaul our immigration system. It needs to be easier for law abiding normal working citizens of other countries to immigrate here. My family fought and died for this country too. Am I proud? Yes. Who wouldn't be? But do I feel the need to deny others that want the same opportunities that I have here? Absolutely not. Do I want illegal immigrants here? No. I realize we do get a lot of criminals coming here as well. This is why the system needs to change. So that when someone is here illegally no one wants to help them.

I am very torn on this issue. I used to be completely against it, but now I know a few people that are undocumented and the horror stories they tell me about living in Mexico make me feel for them. Honestly, the majority of them wouldn't even make enough to pay taxes if they were citizens. They'd actually be able to get a much easier ride. These cartels are knocking on our door, and they're really the only ones that can afford the cost of becoming a citizen.

Free ride? Are you aware that it's around $10,000 or probably even more to cross the border? And if it's not paid by the time they've crossed, the coyote holds them hostage?

Exactly!! How do they expect people who make 20 dollars a week to afford that? It is smurfing ridiculous.

No one ever said it should be a free ride...it should be made affordable for those who are struggling in their countries to make it & want to do better for their families over here in the US. I see nothing wrong with that.

Mexico is not safe in MANY places, and it is VERY poor. If you could only see the way people live over there, you would truly understand why they come here....I have seen "houses" made of of scrap metal from a junk yard & people LIVE in them, could you imagine? I mean the front of someones house had a old garage door on it.

I went there a year and a half ago to see/visit/meet my inlaws for 2 whole months....all I can say is, I COMPLETELY understand why they come here. Took me 3 hours to wash my and my childrens clothes by hand on a concrete washboard and the hot sun beating down on my back, takes even longer depending on how many peoples clothes are being washed and when I was there I washed just mine and my 2 daughters and it took forever it felt. Pure misery. Everyones clothes are raggedy because of the harshness on the washboard, it wears the material 10x as fast as it would it were to being washed in a washing machine. The list goes on and on and on....

Exactly but a lot of people seem to think that's its a piece of cake to come here legally.

Its sad...I know some people that paid thousands of dollars, over 6k to an immigration attorney or whatever they´re called and they just got ripped off. They never submitted their paperwork and ended up getting them deported instead.

Yeah its happened to A LOT of people and that's why so many are scared to even try, nobody has thousands of dollars to pay just to end up getting robbed and scammed.

People really have NO idea...
