Another thing, to those who think immigrants should just do it "the legal way"... why in the smurf do you think they aren't?

Most of these people are escaping from their INSANE home countries. My childhood friend's mother somehow managed to leave Cuba to flee to the US in the 80's and watched her brother and uncle both get close-range shot in the head as they were escaping.

My sister's husbands saw his brother died in the dessert, from dehydration.

Actually, you really can't do much in this country without a valid social security number or a green card....if they are here illegally they work smurffy ass jobs & get paid under the table....I have never known any illegal immigrants who got welfare or any of that smurf. They come here to work their asses off to send money back to their family in whatever country and live here with what they got & make use of it.

Also, a lot come here illegally because the process of becoming legal is so smurfing expensive...do you know how much people make a week over in Mexico or other poor countries? About 20 dollars a week, how do people expect them to be able to pay the outrageous amounts of money, I think they need to make it a little easier to become legal imo.

People don't realize that it costs thousands AND thousands of dollars. The MAIN reason immigrants come here is bc they are poor and want better, so how in the hell can they do it the "right way" if they can barely afford clothes/food let alone having to pay thousands of dollars to get their citizenship for here ?!?!

yes, It cost my husband a little over $6,000 for my GC.

I know, it's a stressful process. My husband went through a hard time. he even had to go see a psychologist because how scared he was when we were not sure if i was going to have to leave the country, he kept saying ''I can't stay here without you, how am i going to take care of all three kids all by my self, what if we never see you again?'' now he says ''I was so close to be a single father in the USA'' the separation of families is insane.

It is. Extremely stressful. People are very quick to say "they need to go back and do it the right way!" Little do they know how very tiring,stressful and very expensive it is...

Shoot if i wasn't American, I wouldn't even bother to go through the process myself (atleast till it improved and became manageable and affordable)

I know Im a little late to the discussion.
Getting a passport and visa (a document needed to get into the US) in Mexico to enter the US legally is really hard to get and its a lot of money. They have people interviewing them who are trained in Psychology to evaluate them. If they think the person is a risk to stay in the US they deny them. They check their income, job, everything. They have to make a good living and maybe they´ll have a chance to qualify. If they get denied they can apply again but they have to pay the fee again and most likely will get denied again. People who have a good life in Mexico are not the ones looking to stay in the US, they just go visit. The poor people that end up crossing the border have no chance in hell to get the documents to enter the country legally. Lets say they miraculously manage to get into the US with a passport...they still have to go through all the legal processes to get a green card and that takes years and its very expensive. Some people just get ripped off and get deported.
