Quoting Love my 3 kids:" IF they don't have it good then why do they stay? They get free living, medical care, education, and ... [snip!] ... a business". They don't pay taxes but still get paid a paycheck. But yeah,,, they don't have it good and I know nothing. SMH"

A good majority of them still live in poverty here in the states.

Didn't you know? It's only freedom if it inconveniences the rest of the people in the world trying to have what we have.

I agree that it is sad for someone to jump to, "Shoot them!" or whatever. It's really disturbing, actually.

We are a country of freedom, but I think we also have to be a country of "law and order" (so cliche, sorry.) There's definitely a balance to find, I don't think we're there.

And yeah I agree that we don't quite have a balance

It is hard to know what the solution should be.

We do need to crack down on the whole situation. But I think that we need to start with the actual process of legal immigration. It needs to be more attainable for the poor, non criminal, ordinary citizens of other countries. Then crack down on the illegal immigrants.

That was one of the options that was running through my mind. My husband thinks that for those who cannot afford to go through the process they should be able to opt for 4 years of military service and then become citizens through that. I don't know.

I thought that was already an option and our Government has pretty much royally screwed those who have served?

I could be wrong. That thought alone is actually from a conversation I had with someone years ago regarding illegal immigration.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you have to be a legal citizen before you can join.

I don't recall DH serving with anyone who was in the military only to earn their citizenship.

I think 4 years I military service if you can't pay is wrong. Mainly because well.... Do you really want a person that isn't a us citizen protecting you? Plus why should they fight for my freedom? They don't have that freedom they're not a citizen. I think they should pay on a sliding scale. Most I the friends I have came over the border illegally not because of the money but because of the wait time.
