Castor Oil vs Induction

Which would you consider more "dangerous?"

Disclaimer: I'm not planning on doing either. I'd just like to know the general opinion in case I do end up going 2 weeks overdue and have to start thinking about my options.

Induction for sure. Although I know everyone else will disagree. I've done enough research on the drugs they use for induction to not want them near me unless it is an emergency.

both. but one has a more negative outcome then the other and that would be *roll the drums* castor oil.

Castor oil is far more dangerous than an induction. I only say that because there is always an idiot who dehydrates themselves and gets the extreme case of what can happen.

I wouldn't do an induction either. However, I would rather consider an option that has me monitored where I am not a danger to myself.

BTW, these aren't "options" that you need to consider. Your baby will come out. I promise. You will not stay pregnant forever. If you end up going over due you can always ask for a membrane sweep. That can help get things moving along.

That's what I'm scared about.
I just know that if I go to 42 weeks, something will need to be done. I don't feel safe going any farther than that. It's heartbreaking.

It's happening more frequently that people go to 43 weeks and have perfectly healthy kiddos. You can't stay pregnant forever, and as long as your fluid levels are good, there's no reason to induce

There are things you can do to help it along. EPO, RRL, acupuncture, lota of walking. I don't think too many people make it the full 42w overdue, & by then they could try something else, like a membrane sweep first

Castor oil, onky because most who use it to self induce are not properly educated, and more prone to the risk factors.

That's true too.

You technically aren't considered overdue anyway until after 42w.

You just hit the nail right on the head with everything I've been thinking.
I was due yesterday but I've been having pretty bad contractions about 3 mins apart for 13 miserable days now and they aren't doing anything to my cervix. I'm mentally in such a hopeless place right now.
