When your baby is sick with a fever...I have given him the fever relief or whatever from meijers but I just wondered what are things you do to comfort your baby when they have a fever..he is 8 months old and hes had higher temps before but never an actual fever. I believe its either a cold or teething, but if it isnt at what point should I contact the doctor?

Pediacare so far always breaks his fever. Ill also keep him in a diaper or short sleeve onsie for a bit. We strip fevers in my house. If that wouldn't work my last attempt would be a cool bath or rag, but its never gotten to that point yet.

when my son was maybe 5 mths, he got a little sick. slight fever and very fussy. he literally cried nonstop. i had given him medicine, used cool rags and just held him. nothing helped. then i remembered something i had heard, that skin-to-skin contact is a natural pain reliever for children, especially infants. i took my shirt and bra off, laid him on my chest and it wasnt even 5 min and he was out. after HOURS of crying.....

That's pedialyte. Pediacare is a fever reducer I found at Walmart or Walgreens. I don't know the recommendations for pedialyte. We had to take my son at about 6 or 7 months to the ER and they gave him some there for the first time. Honestly if my baby wasn't taking in any fluids I'd give him some pedialyte. I'd rather him stay hydrated.

Ooh ok thanks..yeah he seems to be taking fluids okay he just seems miserable, hot, and really cuddly..he has a cough, stuffy nose and his eyes seem to be watery. Today I tried fever relief from meijers and he cooled down but it came back about 4 hours later I gave him more before bed and he didn't seem to cool down like before. Thanks for the suggestions

Pediacare is just acetaminophen (Tylenol). It works better if you alternate it with ibuprofen every four hours. You can also run a hot shower (the steam might help break up his congestion), or get saline spray.
