Sick Baby

posted 29th Jan
My Ds is 11 weeks and has a cold and a slight fever. I have baby tylenol, but it doesn't tell me how much to use for a 2 month old. Is there anything I can do for him besides Tylenol?

it goes by weight. if your baby is between 6-11 lbs 1.25 ml for syringe and 1/2 for dropper (or.04ml) what is the fever?

My lo is 4 1/2 months and weighs 16lbs, she takes 2.5ml. I think when she was that little it was half of that so 1.25ml.

If it's just a slight fever I wouldn't do anything. Fevers aren't a bad thing.

Only a 99 fever. He's about 11lbs now too.

How did you take his temp?

I wouldn't really consider 99 a fever, especially if you took it rectally. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do for him...maybe a warm bath or put him in the bathroom with the hot shower running.

Took it in his arm pit. I'll do the warm bath.

Tylenol isn't gonna keep his fever down for long or break it. Children's Motrin is the best and it's guaranteed to break it without it coming back. It's good to alternate between them, but Motrin does the trick every time. Dosage goes the same for the Motrin - just go by his weight.

i would try dressing him lightly and take a rectal. armpit is very inaccurate. it could be higher and you wont know the exact unless you do a rectal.
