Quoting ♥Mama Constantine:" Someone threatened to call CPS on me because I didn't bathe my 3 month old every night.   I only would for abuse or neglect."

My old best friend threatened me with CPS because I was "abandoning" my child. Ya know, my parents moved an hour away and I didnt have care for my child while I was in school. So she came to me and my ex's house 2-3 days a week. But since I was doing what I needed for school, I was "abandoning" her. And then she called my ex SO's son a sexual deviant. Smurfing whore. She didnt call CPS but she did call the cops on me. That girl was INSANE!

Sexual, mental, and physical abuse. Nasty living condition's. Leaving a young child home alone and making it a habit.

It's not unusual for houses with toilet-training kiddos to end up with poop in odd places   My midwife was just saying today that when her little girl was TT a friend came over and said she smelled something funny, and there was poop behind the couch.

I called once on a woman that lived in my old apartment complex. She had 2 small children 4 years old and 2 years old. They were constantly outside by themselves with no supervision. Half the time the 2 year old had nothing but a diaper on. The last straw for me was when I caught the 2 year drinking from a mud puddle becaus she was thirsty. Thankfully enough people had called, because she did get her kids taken away.

Thanks guys. I'm with most of you on when/why you'd call. I think it is silly to call for more frivolous things.

Quoting Elliot Grace's Mama:" If I saw something that made me really uncomfortable"

That's just stupid and simplistic thinking.

If I recall you posted in a thread recently about how your daughter is "obsessed" with your nipples. You said she BF's and when she's not eating she likes to pull your shirt down and "feel you up".

That is something that makes me very uncomfortable. But would I call CPS? No, because I know people have their own comfort level with nudity and BFing.

Still wierd though.

Eh my mom has had four children she's PTed and also ones she has babysat, she's never had feces all over. There's a difference in that and feces that is old and left there for a long time.

If I have witnessed obvious emotional/physical abuse or neglect.

I've called on my upstairs neighbors for the ways they treat their daughters.

Yelling at your 3 year old "USE THE smurfING BATHROOM OR I'M BEATING YOUR SmUrfING ASS" is not really conducive to potty-training and is definitely abusive.

Quoting ~Ice Princess~:" You can safely have a glass of wine a day... Obviously you shouldn't be downing shots but I don't think there's anything CPS can or will do about that. "

sure, it's safe to drink while pregnant, just like it's safe to smoke while pregnant   IMO If you drink while pregnant, and you're aware that ANY amount of alcohol can cause FAS you are selfish. I say this because i have a brother with FAS and it's not a great thing to grow up with. i also know people who have sever FAS from their mother thinking that a cup of wine everyday is okay. I wouldnt call on someone who just has a glass here or there, but everyday all day, you ovb dont care with happens to your unborn child knowing the risks.
There are cases like my mother, where her mother drank with pregnant with her, and she is fine. but i would think that if you really cared about the life growing inside of you, you would stop and think about it. In canada if a baby is born with it in the system, they're red flagged and taken because even though it's not illegal to drink while pregnant, it is illegal to have it in a born baby's system.

BUT That is just MO because of experiences. Sorry if i offended anyone just my personal opinion. each to their own though.

But it's totally cool that women drink wine as part of a regular meal in Europe and their FAS rate is much smaller than the US's rate.
