My littlest brother has Hemophilia. They didnt know about it until he was 5. He was ALWAYS covered in bruises. They never called CPS on my parents.

But I can sympathize for people who do get CPS called on them when they have special needs children.

It sucks, we've been incredibly lucky.
My 2 yo sometimes can't stand to wear shoes. I mean he screams and sobs saying "it hurts! it hurts!" over and over. I don't know why, other times he can wear them fine. Well one day he was having one of those days so I didn't make him, it was a bit chilly outside so I put socks on him and went to the store.


He doesn't walk in the store, he only rides in the buggy.

In the store he took the socks off (he can't stand the seam on the toes). A lady actually came up and asked if we needed help buying him shoes.
Sigh. No lady, he's not not wearing shoes because we're poor. Then tried to explain SPD to her and got a blank stare. Sigh. So yeah I'm now super paranoid some "do-gooder" is going to call the cops or cps on us.

U have been very lucky then sad to even say that but some ppl just don't think before calling. hubby had a private client where he took care of 4 kids just so the parents could rest. They all had some ODD, ADd, autistic things going on. The one kid was more difficult and the ring leader so to speak. Hubby would go to the store w this family and his job was to keep an eye on the kids while the mom shopped. this mom was terrified bc teachers, cashiers, strangers, have called cps on them over things the one kid has done- mostly the meltdowns. She wouldn't leave the house unless she had to. I felt bad for her being so afraid of losing her kids just bc they were special needs.

Thankfully my autistic son has mostly outgrown meltdowns in the store..he's gotten to where he is easier to handle than the little one, but yes I feel very lucky.

Neglect, emotional abuse, suspected sexual abuse, or physical abuse.
Also if a child was living in conditions that endangered them. Drug abuse, the extreme end alcoholism, squalid conditions, stream of sex partners in and out of the house.

It's not enough to call for in those situations.

There's nothing wrong with having an occasional drink like wine or beer during pregnancy.

Obviously you shouldn't be downing shots but I don't think there's anything CPS can or will do about that.

What I mean by poor/disgusting conditions are like feces around the house. Urine as well. Things that can make people ill.

Not a little clutter or anything.

I know. That's what I mean too.

We called on BIL SEVERAL times for that and they wouldn't take them over it. I'm talking smurf on the floor, food on the floor for MONTHS, trash in a 30+ gallon can overflowing 2 feet high on the floor, lice constantly because they wouldn't treat their house, you name it. They wouldn't do anything. We even called on them b/c the kids said they were throwing them into walls, choking and punching them. But because there were no marks? Nothing...

They finally stepped in when FIL called because they didn't have power or running water. That's why they took them.
