Emotional, physical, sexual abuse, or a dangerous/nasty environment, or if the parents were using hard drugs.

I wouldn't call over seeing marks on a toddler though. My DD is very clumsy and has bruises all over her, she even busted her lip falling off our bed. Trust me she is not abused and I would be PISSED if someone called on me.

ETA: I mean the baby is inside of them, nothing they can do until after birth.

I called CPS on my ex, my son went with him for his first unsupervised visit.
He came home with bruises up his back, a huge gash on his forehead, and his front teeth busted.
I asked him what had happened and he said " none of your mother smurfing business"
Nothing was done about it... CPS didn't give a smurf, neither did the courts.

Shows why so many kids die by their parents or non custodial parent in this state.

In the US, I'm pretty sure it's your right to drink while you are pregnant if you want to. CPS won't stop you. Not saying it should be, but it is.

That is so sad!  

My grandma tried to get custody my cousin because his mom and step dad abused him. His mom would hold him down while his step dad beat him with belts and hangers.

The court gave his mom custody.   She put him in a mental facility not long after and he's been there two years now.

I have called CPS several times. On my cousin, I called on him twice, and they called me 3 times. He was investigated a total of 8 times. One of those times the school is the ones that called. CPS ignored all claims. He is now serving 50 years after evidence was "lost" and turned over to the police. Bet CPS feels like asses now. Then I called on my sister. My niece had no muscle tone, head control and weighed 8 and a half pounds at 6 months.......so, that should give you an idea of why I called.

iv heard of cps taking babies as soon as their born due to mothers doing heroin during pregnancy. alcohol is a touchy subject tho. not that i agree with it but you always see women having a beer or glass of wine while pregant in other countries

It's disgusting, it's like they investigate all the untrue smurf over the smurf that is REALLY happening and endangering kids lives.
Luckily he never takes my son.

no i mean being an alcoholic while pregnant. gladd of wine fine, as long as its not all day everyday. or even everyday, that would upset me, but i wouldnt call CPS over it.

Friend of mine has a spiteful mil so she has cps at her place almost monthly. A teacher has called on her once for restraining her child like his therapist showed her. Her two girls have clubbed feet from a genetic disorder so the mil esp calls for that even though the kids are in therapy. mil wanted the kids on a gluten free diet bc their father has to be so she called. the house she's living in is being renovated inside room by room cps actually gave her a deadline to have all the work finished by even though the kids cannot get into those spaces (locked doors). She has so many pending cases when one gets closed her mil has filed like 3 more complaints in its place. And she's in pa n her county comes out for every little call severe or not.

I think it's only for "illegal substances," which alcohol is legal. And I think they drug test the day of giving birth or something. I'm not 100% sure. I didn't even drink anything while pregnant (I'm not counting before I found out), but I won't bash others who want to have one drink.

Thats fair enough, FWIW I dont drink whilst pregnant, I have been through too much to even think of jeapordising my baby but the idea of that lady who has her one glass of wine a week beign thought badly enough of to have CPS or SS called is scary. I also think people who smoke whilst pregnant or around children are worse tbh.
