Baby ate book...maybe

posted 29th Jan
I bought my 9.5 month old a new book today, the kind with the thick, stiff pages. It says for '0+ months' so I figured it was fine. Well, I was on the phone while he was playing with the book, chewing on the thing like he does with all his other books. He pulled it away from his face and I realized the thing is dripping wet and pieces of the edge are coming off. It almost looked like soggy toilet paper. :/ I took it away and checked his mouth. Couldn't see anything but I have no idea if he swallowed anything. D: A piece came off but it's too wet to really know if it's all there or not.

I'm more asking for reassurance because I know he'll probably be fine, but should I worry or call his doctor? My mom just laughed and said he'll eat worse so I assume I'm just a paranoid first time mom. >.>;

My son ate like three of his books.   He ate half-chewed dog food this morning.

  It'll be OK!

My son is a notorious board book eater. I can't leave him alone with books at all. He takes big chunks out of them. sometiems he swallows them and sometimes he just sticks out his tounge and shows me. I'm sure he will be okay :-)

My daughter doesn't eat gross stuff.

He's rather eat dog food than his veggies.

My oldest tried the cat food. Once. That was all he needed to realize it tasted yucky haha! He doesn't eat paper so much anymore but my 6 month old will when my toddler leaves it on the floor   Oh well just how parenting goes!

I don't see paper as gross, just don't see it as appetizing either!

My son would love to eat tons and tons of cat food. Of course I don't let this happen but every time he gets close to it. He can't wait to shove it in his mouth.

My girls ate their board books. Dd2 likes to find crumbs in the trash if we don't put it up. Dd1 outgrew the eating gross things stage but dd2 likes anything she can get her hands on- dog food, cat food, grass, rocks, she's tried to nibble on the cat n dogs' tails before. Pennies, batteries, baby gates, table corners, crayons, pencils, Chapstick, etc. I think ur son will be fine. Maybe only let him have the book when u can sit w him w it to keep an eye on him. Maybe try teaching him that books aren't food lol
