Just another vent (very long)

posted 29th Jan
My MIL seems to always rub me the wrong way or do things to aggrivate me these days. Honestly, my MIL is a good grandmother but she does things very different from how I am used to. She uses being legally blind as an excuse for a lot of what he does. For instance, SO and I met at her house last night so she could see Olivia. The first thing she said when I walked in the door with the baby was "Oh I never get to see her and your mom gets to see her almost every day. That isn't fair to me since I can't drive." My mom works less than 5 minutes away from where we live and comes over for lunch most days. MIL lives 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic. Sorry if I don't want to use the quarter tank of gas to drive out more than once a week and your husband won't drive you. SO let her feed LO last night (against my wishes) and I watched her squish the liner several times; when I said something about it to her after the FIRST time she tried to deny it. WTF? I saw you do but please tell me you didn't. When LO finished the bottle I heard her sucking air and said something about that and her response "I couldn't see to tell she was done." Are you smurfing serious? I can HEAR it across the room but you can't. After trying to get her to burp for about two minutes she gave up and was like oh I guess she doesn't want to. I held my tongue that time. After a little while she started to get fussy so MIL handed her to me and went to cook. I patted her back twice and she burped and quit fussing. Mommy magic I swear. Anyway, MIL yells from the kitchen, "I think she has a dirty diaper, I smelled it earlier but didn't want to give her up." Smurfing really? You would rather let my 6 week old sit in her own poop for 30 minutes than give her upfor the 2 it takes to change a diaper and get her back. I was livid at that one. As I'm changing my daughter she walks in the room and puts her face in LO's and proceeds to mover her face further down until she gets to LO's lady bits and all I can think is "WTF are you trying to see here lady?" After that I was done. I put LO in her carseat and got ready to leave and MIL said, "I plan on keeping her one night soon so what night can I have her?" I in return asked, "Who is going to drive her if something happens?" Her priceless answer was her husband. I don't smurfing think so; the man is an alcholic bad. I refuse to let ANYONE drive my LO anywhere when they've had 1 let alone the 12 pack I know he has a day if not more. I think I'm done going over there for awhile. I just had to get this out. Thanks for reading and sorry for typos and such.

Did you tell her that?

And did you type smurfing that many times or did I accidentally smurf you?

I said that to her and she said that he'sperfectly fine to drive after that many beers. Not in my opinion and that's the one that counts.
I typed smurfing that many times. I'm attempting to quit cussing and that is my favorite substitute.

That is not okay. I wouldn't want my kid staying over there either.

I wouldn't have asked who would drive if something happened... I would have said "This baby is six weeks old. She is not having an overnight with ANYONE. Ask again when she's six YEARS old."

I cannot imagine how anyone could let an infant stay the night with someone else. But I breastfeed so that just would not work.

This too. DD was 18 months before we went a night without her.

I'm not ready to let someone else watch her at all but I was trying to be polite about it. Also, I'm going back to work and school soon and SO wants her to watch DD and that isn't happening for sure after last night.

My son is 7 weeks old and has slept at my moms like 2 or 3 times. He's also there 3 or 4 dayss out of the week now. But that's cause I went back to work and my bf has about the same hours as me. (One of us may start an hour early or get off an hour earlier than the other.)

When you squish it it forces the formula out of the nipple faster.

half the week away from you?

that seems excessive... and im VERY free and easy going with my children sleeping over friends/family houses.

that doesnt bother you that someone takes care of your child just as much or more than you? doesnt make you want to get a job that might work better with your boyfriends schedule?

What are these bottles? I am trying to picture in my head what the heck you guys are talking about and I am perplexed. What is the liner? Like what does that mean?

I think she means three or four days a week while she's at work. Not like he is there 24/7 that often. I would die though being away that long. I work like between 4 and 8 hours a week and I have a hard time with it.
