quick question

If your baby has stopped growing and is measuring behind, would the doctor normally have you come in weekly to check or monthly? Also, if your baby is measuring behind would they push your due date up? I always thought the 1st dating ultrasound was the most accurate. Im asking for a friend... TIA

Usually if baby/mama are measuring smaller than normal they will monitor it for a couple weeks to see how baby is growing.

If baby isn't growing properly, sometimes they will deliver sooner b/c in a case like that it's often better for baby to be on the outside vs. the inside (to receive nutritional support, etc).

It all depends though. Some babies are just smaller. And some mama's measure smaller even though baby is a normal size.

I would always measure 4-6 weeks behind later on in my pregnancy, and my DR never seemed concerned. I was never monitored.. If your baby has stopped growing, they would most likely give you an ultrasound to confirm it.

I was measuring smaller because i'm tall and have a long torso. As I was told.

she said the doctor said the baby stopped growing but moved her due date up a week and said they may induce her. so she now has a new due date and a possibile induction. I told her some babies grow slower and it was normal and if the baby had reallly stopped growing all together then she would be coming in more often.
