Question about spinal block anesthesia.

posted 29th Jan
I sound ridiculous, I'm positive, especially seeing as I've had a spinal before. But, I have to ask again, how does it feel?

I was in such a state of panic and depressed with my last due to certain circumstances and don't remember a damn thing how anything felt.

I have surgery 6:3bb a.m. friday morning and, one thing I'm scared if is that needle in my back :s
What does it feel like when they stick you?

For someone who has had a prior c section, I feel as though I'm running into this blind.

I'm wondering the same thing. Lol. I had an emergency c-section with my DD, and was pretty much in shock at the whole thought of it, that I don't remember feeling the needle at all. I remember exactly how everything felt after that, but not the stick. Maybe they numb it somehow? I have no idea.

I'm having a repeat c-section March 22nd, so, now I'm curious.

Mine was an emergency as well. The only thing I remember feeling was them putting the catheter in before I was totally numb and still in pins and needles state. Ughghhhgh.... That hurt haha.

From what I remember from mine it hurt. It was like a burning sensation though.

They usually give you a shot to numb the area then insert the needle. That shot kinda feels like a bee sting to me. You will sometimes feel a lot of pressure as they insert the needle into the right space between the disk.To me it kinda felt like they were trying to push their finger into my back. It might be slightly painful but a lot less painful then full blown contractions. Any pain you might feel usually only last a minute. If you are very nervous ask the anesthesiologist to explain everything he is doing before he starts . Some will also tell you when they are inserting the needle so you they wont startle you. I have had 3 spinal/ epidurals so far and will have another one in June/July when I have a repeat c-section . Good luck .
