Anti-Vax Moms?

I'm relatively new to the whole anti--vax idea. My first two kids had all their immunizations... but while pregnant with Miriam, the husband and I did a ton of "waking up" in all aspects of life, vaccines being one of them. Now... I'm in search of a doctor who is anti-vax friendly. Apparently... it's easier said than done.

I took Miriam to her first appointment at 1 week old and I figured, "Oh I'll just sign a refusal and it'll all be good." NOPE!! I was very sternly told it's either vaccinate or hit the road.

What sucks even more, is the fact my kids are now on medicaid... and I'm noticing a pattern of... if the doctor doesn't accept medicaid, then they are usually laid back about the vaccines, BUT if they DO accept medicaid, then it's vaccinate or don't be their patient.

So, need help! Anyone know how to get around this, find a doctor, etc? Educate me!

Keep looking, you will find one. We are on mainecare and our pedi supports our medical decisions

I think you're only option really is to just keep looking.

Being on medicaid as it is... goes against everything I believe, so part of me wants to just cancel their insurance and just pay out of pocket, but I know that is extremely expensive b/c I've done it. Husband's work insurance only opens up each November to enroll, so we pretty much have a year to go.

You can either keep looking or just not take her to a pediatrician. I don't take my kids to the doctor unless they're sick (and they never have been).

You can usually make changes in the event of a life change, such as having a child, within like a month of that happening.

Have you tried, conyers pediatrics? I take cale there, we see dr. scornik. He is laid back I have always been happy with him.

I can't do anything about getting on his work insurance, none of us are currently on it, if we were it'd be great, it would be about $250 a month, not too bad.

I got an appointment at your doctor, Rachel!! So, how do they act about vaccinations? I'm afraid I'll go in and find out they're pushy or something. A good sign is I didn't see one of those forms on their site saying it's vaccinate or go elsewhere, lol.

Yay! I'm not sure about vaccs, because I wasn't aware of pros and Cona with cale, but I have never got cale a flu shot and he doesn't push that issue and every time I take cale i'm for something he has a natural way of helping the cold, the only time he prescribes meds is when it's last resort. Which I love!

I hope they don't push it, but I'll probably know when I fill out the new patient forms. I really don't want to vaccinate at all, and I know I may get looked down upon because of it, but I think that's what's best for my kids.

Thanks. Her appointment is Feb 11th, Georgia allows religious and medical exempts, and I think it ties into our religious beliefs.. so hopefully it does work out!
