re: smoke around baby's toys;

give hope it won't happen again? or be persistent and move out ASAP.

nope and nope. I smoke in the back of the house which is near no doors or windows, when I come in - jacket goes in a bag in the closet in the basement, brush teeth, wash face, wash hands, change clothes. I never smoke in my car. and I actually had to tell SO to do that as well.

I'm not going to live like that, I'd rather move out and not be worried about smoke being around him. I just don't get why he would beg for us to live here, and then do the one thing we asked him not to for the health of our kid. that as the only way I'd agree to live here and it's like he doesn't care.

Check with your school about a child care program as well.

Like I said, where there is a will, there is a way. Also, quit smoking. Do it cold turkey. That will save you plenty of $$$$ to get out of there

I knowwwwwwww   I did great for 11 months. after I had LO, SO again lied to me that he wasn't smoking and was, I had PPD, and I was miserable. I picked it back up. I don't smoke nearly as much as I did the years before I had LO. living in a house of people that smoke, it's sooooo hard to just quit. everywhere I turn there is a pack in someones hand at my access. I need more will power!

that's why me and SO were splitting packs. to cut down and save some $$. it was all his idea. thats why I'm angry too.

my school does have one on campus, but it's a preschool. that will be perfect when LO is ready for school. but not yet. MIL has fibro, so her getting up early in the morning to drive all the way to wherever we are going to live, I know will end up being a hassle for her and end up with me having a lot of missed classes.

I definitely understand where you're coming from because I would be smurfing pissed if my childs grandparents thought it was okay to smoke around their toys, butttttttt if it's not your house you don't really have much say. Save up your money and get out of there.

i know   i just don't get his way of thinking. it's his house, but that's OUR child you begged to live here with you. we gaave you ONE condition if you want us to live there. just one nothing stupid, but for the sake of his health. walk the smurf outside and smoke your cigg. I've even caught him not washing his hands and putting them in the baby's mouth. that itself was a big fight.

I just want to move out but the things we have to do in order to do so will be hard, but worth it for him. i know we'd be smurf broke and I can sacrifice my things for his health, but it's being able to fully provide for him if we do move out, will be a struggle. I never want to struggle to provide for our son. i know SO won't want to move out. but smurf I'll beg my mom to let us live there and make room for us.

well I just got done wiping down the tables and things that were in the Living room. and the end table where he smoke, the Clorox wipe was full of yellow! it was disgusting! I cannot believe I've been letting my son put his mouth on that. and I didn't even know! I feel like a horrible mom!  

I'm not sure how to clean all of his toys properly. the plush ones I guess I'll throw in the washer and wash them twice. but thinks it's okay to just clorox wipe everything else? and boil the little things?

Child care assistance? Start applying for programs to help you get on your feet and get out on your own. They exist.

I had PPD pretty bad. I didn't know it though. I didn't actually get a diagnosis until after I went thru a series of nasty health scares and surgeries. Then they plopped PTSD on top of it. It took a while but, I am better now. It is a process just like everything else. You can't expect everything overnight and you really have to work steps to make things work out. Stick with it.
