dumb question but curious

I was told there is a lot of paperwork to fill out about baby when born and to get a social security card. I was just wondering do you get that at the hospital after the baby is born or do you have to go somewhere to get it? sorry my first kid and have no clue.

They send you a SSN in the mail about a week or so after you have your baby.

The hospital did everything. The only thing I remember filing out was the Birth Cert. info.

the hospital did everything for us. they brought the paper work in and me and so filled it all out. he lost it somehow and they brought us another copy lol. they took care of paternity paper work and filing. we got out of the hospital and the dhhr already had our assistance adjusted and a medical card number approved.

The hosp. records people come in, it was only 1 paper for the social.
Then the birth certificate, which. 2 times I've filled out, 1 time they filled it out, if ur not marries they will give u the declaration of paternity, which goes to father to sign.

I only had to sign a bunch of paper work. I think I had to fill out one paper.. I don't remember what it was though. The SS card comes in the mail, and about 3 weeks after your LO is born you have to go down to the county building to get the birth certificate.

at my hospital a girl came in the next morning and filled out the paper work for us and we got it 8-10 weeks later. You can go somewhere else but it's just easier to do it at the hospital

Lol, this happened to me they bought all my discharge stuff and I was like wtf??? I didn't even name him yet   my nurse was a moron, only good thing was she left me alone...

I had to come back to hospital the next day and do everything...
