Fading hair color

So I have been dying my hair for the last 2 and a half years to dark brown.. and I have blonde hair. If you naturally let your hair fade out how long did it take? Did you use anything to help it fade, like sun in? My hair is in that awkward stage, some parts are starting to fade and others are still dark. lol.

I didn't know you could do that! Will it get it back to natural? Will sun in make it orange? If not, I'd do that and grow it out until it's back to natural.

It's not going to wash out completely. You have to let it grow out or lighten the parts that are dark. But wait a few weeks if you just stopped dying your hair.

thats the thing I havent dyed it in about 6 months... or something like that. lol.

I dont know I hope!! lol. I miss being blonde. lol.

I highly doubt it will just fade out completely, I've never heard of that happening. I always have to just bleach my hair back to blonde.

you might have to bleach it. i would save up some money and just go to a salon tbh. they can do all the correcting and add highlights etc.

Thats what I was thinking.. I guess if it hasnt really faded out much by this summer Ill go to the salon.

Unfortunately it's probably not going to get much lighter unless you wait until summer, when you're out in the sun and going swimming and all that. But be warned - it is likely to fade into an ugly reddish color.

If you don't want to wait and your ends and roots aren't drastically different[like light blonde roots and black ends] then you can go and get it highlighted and just let that grow out.

If there is a huge difference you'll have to bleach the dark parts and tone them.

Yeah, it's not going to fade completely on it's own. It'll stay brown unless you grow your roots out and cut the brown off or strip the color/bleach it. I've been dying my hair dark brown for the past year and a half and my hair is naturally blonde, too. I went several months over the summer without dying it and the only thing I got were really bad roots, lol.
