Going to the gym today :)

posted 29th Jan
This isn't for weight loss, just for fitness.
I am 19 1/2 weeks pregnant and my midwife said that I am perfectly fine to go to the gym and workout still as long as I don't over do it and I drink a lot of water, my question is what are some good work outs to do at the gym while in the second trimester? I have been doing yoga and prenatal workout videos at home but I haven't gone to the gym since before I found out I was pregnant again.
TIA

Yay the gym!! I was only allowed to walk since I was high risk, but you can do the treadmill, elliptical, bike I'm sure but that might be uncomfortable, lol. Just make sure to not do any ab excorcises or any weight lifting over 15 lbs. I would use 5 lb weights (3 lb if you're just starting out) for arm excorcises. Like arm raises, bicep curls, triceps, etc. Lunges should be fine, I would think squats are but you should check. You should be able to ask a trainer at your gym for some pregnancy safe exorcises!! That's what I did (till I found out I was high risk).

Okay, thanks! Well I've been doing squats, modified planks, wall sits, lunges, the whole nine yards lol. My midwife even said I can do modified ab work outs so long as I don't get diastasis recti (separation of the ab muscles during pregnancy) I just wasn't sure if there were machines I should avoid, and I forgot to ask her this morning at my appointment. (Pregnancy brain) lol

I used to forget to ask stuff at every app, lol. But, like I said, you should be able to ask a trainer about the equipment. I don't normally even use the weight machines, just my 5 lb dumb bells.
