How long have you lasted with ParaGard?

I have had mine for almost 5 years and I haven't encountered anyone who has had it for that long. Also, what made you remove it?

3 months so far and loving it.
I think the main reason women have them removed quickly is because a lot of women experience a lot of bleeding. Which I'm so thankful I have not been having this problem. In face, I'm on my period now and it is extremely light. My first period was crazy long and heavy but I'm glad I stuck with it. My only complaint now is the cramps, which I expected, and ibuprofen takes care of those.
I don't plan to have mine removed for at least another 5 years, and that's if we are financially able to afford one more. If not, I will keep it the full 12 years since we are 95% sure we won't be having anymore.

There wasn't a 1-2yrs option. I got mine in Jan of 2012. I can't complain that much other then the painful periods and heavy bleeding which is also inconsistent. I also loose a lot of hair on it and get pains from it when I am not on my period. All of this does outweigh the hormones the pills pumped through my body, for sure. I'm getting it out within the next week or two.

4 months. It gave me an awful odor that was just unbearable. People could Snell it across the room... Gross. The day after it was out, the odor was gone. Doctor said it was my bodies reaction to the copper.

At first it was fine.. For like 6 months to a year.. Then it dislodged itself due to extremely heavy painful intense periods...

Got it replaced because they assumed it was a fluke.

Periods lasted upwards of 10-11 days at a time, my cramps were debilitating, and I was in pain even when I was on my period.

They did an ultrasound to find that my uterine tissue was growing over the paragard to "protect" itself, so they removed it... And then showed me.. It was nasty.. -_-. I'm allergic to a lot of metals as it is... Can't wear anything but gold, and even some white gold gives me problems, so I should have known it was probably a bad idea.

That's kind of how I feel. I'm getting fixed after I have my second child. I'm not cut for any kind of BC, that's for sure.

Interesting...I'm always getting BV and yeast infections but my doctor wants me to stay on it since I can't handle any hormones. She told me to try taking vitamins and probiotics to help my immune system but I am bad with taking medicine, hence getting the IUD.

Yea and it was foul. Worse than anything I've ever smelt. it stained my clothes and underwear with the odor so bad i had to toss then out. Smurfing gross. SO thought i was cheating and caught an infection, he wouldn't come near me. I was a dancer and customers stopped coming to me cause it was so bad. I washed, douched, tried everything... Only removing the iud worked
