Sorry if this has been posted. (230 dead in fire)

But i can not stop thinking about it ever since i heard it on the radio, then spent the morning reading about it.

Approx 230 people died when a fire broke out in a Brazilian night club that had no alarms, sprinklers, and one exit.
At first people were kept from leaving, security thinking a fight had broken out instead, telling them to go pay their bills 'n such first

In another article it talks about the eeriness of the hundreds of cellphones going off on the bodies of the deceased while first responders/fire fighters/etc were taking care of the scene. Something i've never even thought about but they're saying is a modern day issue that comes with all disastrous events when a mass of people are hurt/killed (like the colorado theater shooting, virginia tech, etc).

DH and I have. I can't believe so many people died.  

I hadn't heard about it until now. That's so sad.  

They were not aloud to leave the building since there tabs were not paid... That's why so many died

Well from what I heard the guards didn't know there was a fire, and they thought the people leaving were trying to skip out on their tab. Tragic misunderstanding.

Yeah i read that. Having a single exit doesn't help either. It said that it was packed to twice the capacity too.

I'm reading about other incidents like it that i'd never heard about til now too  

It's heartbreaking. 9 years ago, a very similar accident took place in Buenos Aires, 194 people died in a fire in a night club. Really sad

DH and I read the news from a Polish website because Poland broadcasts news about the entire world whereas the US tends to just report about the US and that's it.

That is so sad.

The overnight fire was among the deadliest in Brazil since some 500 died in a fire at a circus near Rio de Janeiro in 1961

right? i can't even imagine.
They say it effects the responders because it's a constant reminder that these people are human beings, with family 'n friends who are looking for them.
and that some responders continue to hear the ringing far after the disaster happens  

i can't even imagine being a family member having to go through the hundreds of bodies looking for my loved one  
they said people were using their phones to locate the body at the makeshift morgue
