thoughts?

so last night dd woke up SCREAMING at 1130. I changed her (she wasnt that wet), tried to feed her and she wasnt hungry so I just cuddled with her on the couch until she fell asleep. She never does this unless shes teething but she cut 2 in the beginning of the month so i find it hard to believe more are coming so soon... but you never know. She had vax over a week ago, no fever, but when i say she was screaming.... you would have thought someone was stabbing her. she never wakes up like that. I read it could possibly be separation anxiety, shes about to leap a milestone? (that one i found odd), hunger but like i said she wouldnt eat and night terrors. shes 6 months and 1 week. Anyone ever experience this?

You can't comfort a child during a night terror, they scream even more

my son did this when he turned 6 months....he never did it again after the one time but it scared me so much. I think it was a night terror because nothing else was wrong and when my sister explained what my nephews night terrors were like it was almost the exact same thing.

probably a bad dream my daughter does it sometimes and i just cuddle her till she calm give her kisses

yeah...this is what my ds did...it took a little while before he would let me touch him without screaming worse....needless to say i was a wreck

I was crying with her. I didnt know what was wrong!

Me too and it took a good month for us to figure out how to handle him during one when your instinct is to comfort them, especially when they're crying out for you.l aug so glad we have been clear of those for awhile

are you not supposed to comfort them?

when its a night terror, as opposed to a nightmare, they wont let you comfort them because they usually dont know what is going on around them at the time.

When it's a night terror they are still asleep.. Any sound, movement, touch interferes with the terror and scares them even more.. They have no idea what is going on.
My son used to have his eyes open, screaming mommy but looking right through me.. It took us awhile to figure out what it was.. But after we did we made adjustments like no tv or anything that stimulates his brain at least an hour before bed, no sugar after dinner and we started giving him chammomile tea..They can also have them from being over tired or stress from a change.
