high back booster question

posted 29th Jan
Does anyone know if they make a high back booster with a 5 point harness that converts in to a backless booster? Or is it only regular high back boosters that can convert to backless? Is it legal to put a 3 yo in a high back booster with a 5 pt harness if they meet the weight/height requirments for that booster?

Graco Nautilus does.

We have it for my almost 4 year old..but we plan on keeping him in the 5pt harness as long as possible.

I just didn't know. I thought that is was 4 years and 40 lbs for any type of booster. Today I'm finding out that it's not true! Which is good to know because my LO is about to outgrow his convertable seat in DH's truck and I'm interested in getting a high back booster with a 5 pt harness vs another convertable seat (or swtiching mine out of my car but that's a rediculous mess in my two door).

huh, Well, are the graco nautilus good seats? I'm thinking that this it the way we're going to go. I've seen on here that a lot of people use them.

I love ours! I just suggest trying them out in the store to see how your kid fits and then ask to try it out in your car to make sure it fits properly.   Seriously both my kids love the one Cylus has.

Thanks! We'll definitely be trying this out. I didn't see it on BRU website, I wonder if they have it...or walmart?

What convertible seat do you have now? I'd suggest the Nautilus as a booster that's 5pt harness and then switches to backless, but if the whole booster in the future thing isn't a big deal, their are bigger convertible seats on the market (depending on what you have now and how big Colt is).

Well, in DH's car we have a cosco scenera and the straps are starting to look like they're close to being below his shoulders. I have a safety first complete air in my car that we can still use for a long while. I'm interested in replacing DH's seat with something that we can just continue to use till he's 6-8 yo (It's 6 years in Oklahoma but may keep him in a booster longer if I feel it necessary).

I do know the new Graco My Size/Size4Me/HeadWise 70 is a good seat. It doesn't convert to a backless booster, but he could EASILY be harnessed in it until 7-8 years old FF. It's got the tallest shell of any seat so Colt could even rear face in it for quite a while longer if you are still rear facing him.

DD saftey first has the 5point to 50lbs then the high back until 80lbs i think once shes 80lbs she will be done with a seat so she wont need the backless
