Yeah, I mean I don't think children should be forced to show affection or emotion if they don't want to. Obviously there was something going on internally with your son on an emotional scale. It wasn't like your husband was telling him to put his toys away and he was ignoring him because he didn't want to put his toys away.

Yeah I think you're right. He may be more able to see where I'm coming from.... We still don't know for sure if it's happening yet, but I'm very nervous about preparing DS... This deployment will be a lot harder on him than the last.

Well, we kind of have an understanding that the kids are "my job" and everything else is his job. Not that he doesn't help, he totally does, but he knows i research everything and wouldn't ever do anything that i didnt think was best. In the end, I'm the one who deals with the consequences of the decisions, so I make the final call.

Wow, yeah I'm totally with you on this. I would take some time to think about it and let things cool between DH and you and then talk to him calmly about how DS is only 3 and that it's going to ruin their father son relationship but doing things like that. It's one thing having time outs for being bad or whatever, but refusing to accept an apology from a 3 year old as a "consequence" seems like it would be emotionally damaging.

That breaks me heard. Try to remind your husband young children and ate miniature adults. It's hard to keep that in mind but their brains definatly work diff than ours. In sorry for your little guy. I'm sure my husband would feel the same as you too... And he is strict with my son following the rules.
