need to know, it's kind of driving me nuts!

You, think after 2 kids I would know this but how can I tell he differance between just normal discharge or leaking amniotic fluid?? I often feel random trickles my undies just have like little wet spots not like soaked or anything- but it smells kind o sweet-ish.. or maybe that's my pee idk? before any one says go to l&d please note I hate two younger children and I feel dumb asking for people to watch them .. and I see my o.b next wed so idk.. what do yu guys think?

i thought sweet smelling meant it's your water?

im pretty sure pee is the sour ish chemical kinda smell

Urine would be more of a bitter smell. How long have you noticed it? It could be CM as that sometimes has a sweet smell, but so does amniotic fluid. Do you leak more when laying down? Sitting? Standing? Does it fill a pad? I would probably atleast call the OB. Good luck

the trick is to lay down for i think like 15 mins and then stand up (with a pad on) and if you leak then its probably your water ...and if you don't feel the urge to pee when your leaking then its most likley your water

amniotic fluid has no smell so its probably just urine leakage. im pregnant with my third and i have the same issue, my urine doesnt smell like pee it smells weird. id just bring it up at your next appt.

This is what I was going to say. My YDS was born at 29 weeks due to PROM, and when it first started leaking my OB told me to put a pad on and go lay on my left side for 15 minutes and then stand up. If the pad was full or near full I had to go in to L/D. Turns out it was for me. Good luck

If you are that concerned but don't want to go to L&D then you can buy some litmus paper and test the fluid at home with that. I have been told that if it turns blue then it is possible that it is your water. It is not a definitive test but it could help to ease your mind if it does not turn blue. Good luck.

Hmm. I live in Canada, do they just sell this paper strips in normal pharmacies? and in what isle would I find them?

It is just a PH tester, you can get them just about anywhere I believe. The PH of amniotic fluid is supposed to be around 7-7.5 this article has a little more info on the ph of the fluids. You can get the ph testing strips in the aquarium area those show the ranges of ph.
