TTC after a MC. BBT and OPK help.

posted 29th Jan
11/25/12: + HPT
11/27/12: + BT, ultrasound
12/6/12: Ultrasound, heartbeart at 118 BPM. 5w5d.
1/7/13: Started spotting; was told it's normal.
1/14/13: 11w3d. Went to ER for continued spotting. Ultrasound. No heartbeat. Baby measured at 8w6d.
1/20/13: Passed baby naturally at home. Have been spotting/light bleeding since.

I have been tracking my BBT for the past few days, as my midwife said hubby and I can try again after 1 normal cycle, so I want to use the time before my "normal cycle" as my trial period for tracking ovulation to maximize our chances. I was told to put my MC as the first day of my last period, which would make today CD 10. My Fertilityfriend.com calendar is telling me that my fertile window starts tomorrow. When should I start OPK's to watch, and how do they work? I have the dip stick type.

Also, if someone can look at my BBT chart and tell me if they can get an idea if I am going to ovulate soon, it would be much appreciated and if you could explain to me how you know, as I am new at this and am trying to figure it out. I know my body is still out of whack as it's only been 9 days since I passed the baby, but it doesn't hurt to try right?

First, so sorry for your loss <3

That link won't take us to your chart. Go to the sharing button up top and use that link (letters and numbers at end) so we can see. I'd love to look.

Yes count the m/c as day 1. Most likely it will be a while before you ovulate and start another AF. I would start OPKs now for a couple days. But I will know more by temps. I didn't ovulate until about CD 32 I think it was in the m/c cycle.

So sorry for your loss :-(

The link you posted took me to my chart.. Maybe screen shot it and post it as a picture on here??

I counted my MC as day 1, I ovulated on CD 23 that cycle. Which cd 18-20 is normal for me.. then I started AF 12 days after that. So far this cycle has been really normal, I've been charting as well this time, It's super confirming.

I'd love to look at your chart though.

It's impossible to use your chart to predict ovulation unless you've charted previous cycles and you're very regular. What it does do is confirm ovulation after the fact. It's even more impossible after a miscarriage because it usually takes awhile for hormone levels to decrease enough to begin preparing for ovulation.

I had a miscarriage 12/19 and have been temping/using OPKs ever since getting a negative HPT. I still haven't ovulated but got a weird period about a week ago. Don't get frustrated and give up on temping/charting if things don't make sense for a few cycles. I wouldn't have recommended that you start that immediately after a miscarriage because your first few cycles charting are confusing enough!

Thanks ladies. Sorry for the chart not working, I just edited the original post and put a link to the screen shot in it now. Please let me know if it works?

I will definitely keep that in my mind, and I won't give up. <3 I am still learning too so I know it will be frustrating. I charted in November for the first time, and actually realized I was pregnant when my BBT didn't drop down again after ovulation. So I only got about 3 weeks practice

It took me a couple of cycles to get used to it but it was super easy after that. Good luck!

OP it's still way to early to tell anything from that chart.. Keep charting tho. It will eventually make sense. FF with put cross hairs when it detects ovulation. Just remember that this cycle is going to be so crazy that FF might not be able to detect it properly. Chart cervical mucus too :-)

good luck!

It did!
Ya nothing looks like it's gonna happen too soon just basing off what mine does. So obviously that's not a guarantee for you. Just keep charting and you can start using OPKs if you want. Do you have any signs of O you had before the m/c? Like for me I cramp, but before O I get the obvious fertile CM.

I did not know that! Thanks for the tip!
As far as CM goes, I'll probably have to wait until the bleeding/spotting stops right? and I never really know how to describe CM lol I also never really have a "dry phase", makes me feel pretty gross :/ My midwife said it's normal for some people though?

I honestly have no idea. I never really paid attention to my body changes much, rregretibly. :/ I only started in November because hubby and I were planning on TTC after my birthday next month, little did we know we were already pregnant.. lol so I'm still trying to figure out which signs to watch for and all that.

Dry is normal during pre-o and post-o

If you have spotting mixed with CM chart both :-)

Agreed!!
It's become so easy now to predict what's happening in my cycle. But a m/c can really throw things off.

Don't regret it! I didn't until TTC with my daughter. And it took 17 months so I ended up with a lot of practice.
Yes not having a dry phase is normal. I am the same. I will have 1 or 2 days after AF of sticky. But that's as "dry" as it gets lol.
Fertile CM looks like raw egg yolk. That's the most fertile. If it's clear like that just not stretchy, still fertile. Those are big signs. But you may get that now after a m/c. I noticed random days of fertile CM without ovulation.
