You can't charge someone with manslaughter because they didn't slaughter anyone. The person took their own life. A lot of the times, bullies can be just as mentally unstable as the person who commits suicide in a loss of control. We need to have a serious change in the way we view mental health in this country. AND PARENTS NEED TO GET INVOLVED AGAIN. Too many parents let the school system raise their children. An 11 year old girl should never be considering suicide because of bullying. A parent should have stepped in long before then. You know when your child is being tortured at school.

I agree. But if your child has psychological issues and you do nothing about it, you are partially responsible.

Your idea of good parents may not fall into line with what's ideal for child development though. If children are bullying they have not been taught a lot of skills and have a lack of empathy. Whilst there are medical conditions that cause this it does not account for all bullies. I agree with the PP that says some responsibility falls on the parents, it would have to be considered on a more case by case basis. I also agree that occasionally the police should step in.

I see people with psychological issues posting on here day and night. And they have kids.

I highly doubt the people around them know they're as crazy as they come off on here.

Have you seen the level of crazy that people are on here? Do you think that in real life, people know they're as insane as they come off on here?

Same goes for kids.

people who cause an accidnet and someone dies get charged with mansalughter. they didnt mean to do it but it sill happend.. anyway like i said before i have no idea what they could or would be charged with..

and I deff agree, that some responsibility is on the parents.. but some kids are "perfect" at home and turn around at school to be a complete dick. i knew a couple like that. and yes if my kid was being harrassed at school i would of have done something to help stop it.

It depends on the bullying.
The typical teasing it just not playing with the kids - no but the things like making websites and the harassing calls ( like repeated events) telling people to kill themselves- all that stuff should be punishable.

When a child is bullying kids horrendously, the parent will become aware of it. When that happens and the parent addresses the problem, it should change. If it doesn't change, the parent should consider that the child has psychological issues. That's when something should be done. If the parent ignores it, that is negligence or denial in my opinion.

In how many bullying cases, have you seen that the parent was aware?

That happens to most people when they get online, which is why bullying is so prevalent.

That's way too close to a thought crime for my comfort level.

Plus, if a kid leaves a note wrongfully accusing another kid, how does the accused rebut that or fight it?

If parents get punished, kids won't be deterred for a second. The abuser should be held 100% accountable.
