not comfortable with going back to work at 6 weeks

posted 29th Jan
i work part time about 4 - 8 hours Monday- Friday. After i have my son in May i have a 6 week maternity leave. I feel that 6 weeks is way to young to be away from me. i would feel more comfortable when he is around 4 months. But i do not have a choice i have to go back to work. Have any other mom's have this problem. Did you choose day care, a nanny, a home day care. How did you cope with it. I just need some advice on which is best. im looking into a nanny

Yep. It sucks. You just have to find who you're most comfortable with, though it will still be hard, especially at first.

I went back full time when my son was 7 1/2 weeks. You get through it. You cry a bit. Then you cherish your time with them, and all is ok. I promise

Yep I had to go back at 9 weeks. He's in the same daycare as my 4 year old son so so there was some comfort in knowing the people there and how the place is. Its never easy, I cried for the first week and I still choke up when I leave him and its been almost 2 months. It sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm not looking forward to it, either. I also feel like 6 weeks is way too young for me to be away. I didn't go back until my son was 5 months old, but this is a different situation. I'm seriously considering looking into different employment that way I can stay home longer.

With my son I didn't go back till almost 5 months, and with my daughter she was 8 weeks..it was so rough especially with my 12 hour shifts cause i'm gone literally from dark to dark but unfortunately I don't have a choice either. Luckily we have a family friend who has a home daycare close by my work so I know she is in very good hands...find someone you really trust to watch the baby and it will put your mind at ease a little.

$181/week. But that's for a preschooler. Much more for an infant, but it definitely depends on your area.

Well I had to go back to work after I had my daughter too,I really didn't want too because I felt the same way as you, but like yourself I had no choice in the matter either. My boyfriend works full time and I work full time && even then it's not enough, my boyfriends parent's and his grandma usually want my daughter they are too good to us && we are so very lucky. When my daughter is with them it makes me feel more secure that she is okay && I don't have to worry about her when I am working. If anything find someone is close to you, such as your child's grandparents or a really close friend that you can trust.   Goodluck
