Any Suggestions?

Okay,So My last ultrasound was at 16 weeks and they had told me they are 80% sure its a girl but my next one will be more accurate. Now they were able to tell me at 15 weeks with both of my sons, there was no doubt about it,it was definitely a weiner and two little balls. Now I'm pretty sure it's a girl just because the babys legs were wide open and it looked completely different then both my sons. Not only that but this whole pregnancy is completely different in so many ways then both my kids.I know every pregnancy is different but with my two sons they were also similar in a lot of ways. Now to my point...I'm so used to planning things for boys,I would like to hear a few suggestions on a baby girl theme of a baby shower. Baby showers are very important to me,because it's a welcoming party to me,celebrating the baby into the world. So I do attempt to go all out.I am very very open minded and can't wait to start planning with my mom and friend. All suggestions are welcomed! Please get in detail if you'd like. Thank you ladies!

Traditionally, a woman only has a baby shower for her first child. Not for each

I'd have a small diaper party. Maybe just decorate in pink and purple. Or whatever theme you are going to use for this baby.

or if you want it to be a "welcome to the world" party, have it a few weeks after the child is born

That may be how you do things...but here in Maryland...they have a baby shower for each child...reason being is because we have "baby showers" for each idividual child itself because its all about the baby not the mother. So therefore each baby shower is welcoming that child into the world! I have a four year old son and a six year old son...so therefore I have NO infant stuff let alone GIRL stuff. But hey to each their own,but I'm just saying in Maryland we have a baby shower for each child...welcoming that child.Guess traditions are different in some states..

LOL traditions don't vary state to state

Most people will tell you that it is tacky to have a shower for each child. It appears that you just want people to give you stuff.

Again, I would keep it small and casual. Either a diaper party before the child gets here, or a meet and greet after the child is born. Not a full on shower

Some time you have to throw tradition out the window!

I threw shower for my sisters with each pregnancy. My eldest sister was pregnant back to back to back and I still threw her a shower each time.

Sadly I haven't gotten a baby shower in my honor and my LO was born last week. But if I had one I want it to be done in Disney Characters. To me, nothing screams great childhood like Disney. And you can find a lot of good things for a Disney themed shower. Don't stick we a certain set of characters, like just Disney Princesses, incorporate them all! My daughter's nursery is done in Disney Characters and everyone who has seen it has completely loved it.

Congrats on your little girl. I know I just love mine to pieces.

I had a baby shower with my second who was a girl because I only had boy stuff from my first. I didn't plan it, my mom, aunt, and a few of my mom's friends did. They just did a color theme of pink and brown. It was very simple, but very nice.

My mother in law is throwing me a shower that's just what they do here. This is my fourth and my oldest is 4. I have everything I need in storage 500 miles away. Its tacky in some places and in others its expected. I'm not expecting alot but hoping to get clothes to last till we can get our stuff. Meh. Its nobody's business really. If people don't want to go they don't have too.

Traditions do vary from family to family. And thats just what we do around here and it's never been a issue with anyone around here. We have one for each pregnancy, like I said..welcoming that child into the world and family.I do not know one person who hasn't. It's not going to change my mind that your tradition is one baby shower per mother or the thought that you think it's tacky to have a shower per child.I'm just saying it's very very common here and people would think it's strange and disrespecting my baby if I wasn't to have one for her. But I am and I simply asked for opinions on themes not whether I should have a baby shower or not because I am.I'm not by any means trying to be rude, but you can't jump on my case telling me how you think things should be done when we've been doing them the same way since my Grandma can remember!
Anyways with my first son I kept it simple and we just used baby blue & white. My second son we used baby animals. I kind of like sweets for her..you know, like cupcakes and such.   I'm so excited because I've always wanted a girl!!!

Exactly! A lot of places are different..but it's out tradition where I'm from that each pregnancy has a shower because each pregnancy is different. We make the baby showers about the baby it's self and prepare for the baby entering the family/world.I do not expect much either and quite honestly don't care. It's always nice...but I'd be happy just to have friends and family preparing and celebrating her new coming. I usually do have raffles like if you bring a pack of diapers you get entered in the raffle and I normally have cute little prizes from bath and body works and stuff to treat people   It's normally so fun and I personally think every pregnancy deserves one bc its rough! But if people don't believe in it or like the idea, that's their decision,So I won't knock it! I don't understand why people are getting upset with me because of something my family and friends have always done?

Exactly! Back home you only get one baby shower. Here they do one for every baby. Lol. Different strokes for different folks. :-D

Im a little late, but i think that polka dots would be a cute theme. Also since youre having a girl after having boys, its completely ok to have another baby shower. I had two for DD1, and probably wont have one this go around, as its another girl and i have most of everything left from her big sis, but my family and friends will ask if i need anything and will get the baby gifts, in fact they already have. But then again, your question had nothing to do with whether or not its ok to throw another shower did it? Just on picking a theme. So....  And congrats!
