before I was pregnant I found out I have minor tears in the tendon of my shoulder and had to get a cortisone injection for the pain. my should came good after a while but over the last week it has been aggravated and I am in a lot of pain again. the Dr has offered for me to get another injection but I am worried about the possible effects it could have on the baby.
Has anyone else had this sort of injection or have any info on if it may harm bub?

You need to talk to your doctor about it. Your ob/midwife/family doctor will know if it's safe or not or what side effects it could have.

He says it will be ok, but I dont understand how something so strong like cortisone is ok when I cant take anything stronger then panadole for a headache. am just a little confused

Ask your doctor for physical proof that its safe. I'm sure there is side effects, warnings etc on the drug. And a doctor "shouldn't" tell you something is safe if it wasnt. How far along are you? Maybe ask if there are alternatives to the shot.

Actuly you can take Vicodin, Methadone and a whole long list of very strong pain medications... they are all safe but that does not mean that your Dr wants to give them to you for a headache.

Those are all class C medications. They have not been determined to be safe. Just because a doctor prescribes it, doesn't mean it's safe.

OP, do as the others have suggested and discuss the pros and cons with your doctor. Sometimes you have to weigh the benefits vs. the risks. Cortisone is a steroid, and is a class C medication (class D in 1st trimester), so it is not known whether it is safe or not.

I am 19 weeks today and is my first bub so want to make sure I am doing the right thing.
